The word “fascist” gets thrown around a lot in politics, but it’s hard to find a more apt one for “Unhumans,” which came out last month. The book argues that leftists don’t deserve the status of human beings — that they are, as the title says, unhumans — and that they are waging a shadow war against all that is good and decent, which will end in apocalyptic slaughter if they are not stopped. “As they are opposed to humanity itself, they place themselves outside of the category completely, in an entirely new misery-driven subdivision, the unhuman,” write Posobiec and Lisec.

The piece goes on to describe the book’s adulation of Franco, Pinochet, and McCarthy; and quote Vance saying that the US needs a de-Baathafication-like purge to rid us of wokeness.

Other endorsements come from Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump Jr., a key figure in his father’s presidential campaign. The foreword is by Stephen Bannon, Donald Trump’s former chief strategist.

But this is not a book about ideology or politics. Unhumans reveals that communism, socialism, Marxism, and all other radical-isms are not philosophies but tactics—tactics that are specifically designed to unleash terror on everyday people and revoke their human rights to life, liberty, and property. These are the forces of unhumanity. This is what they do. Every. Single. Time. Unhumans steals their playbook, breaks apart their strategies piece by piece, and lays out the tactics of what it takes to fight back—and win, using real-world examples.

How could this book be about progressives when we are told repeatedly progressives are not communist, fascist and in a lot cases not socialist?

I can't find "subhuman" in any of that. Where is it?

We’re not, but that doesn’t stop the right from conflating all of them, as Posobiec does in his book. Here’s a section from the intro on Google books:

If you've fallen so far into rightwing echo chambers that it seems reasonable that "communists" "socialists" "radicals" "revolutionaries" "Marxist-Leninists" "Cultural Marxists" and "progressives" are all synonymous, you may require an intervention.

Hey, give the author some credit. He does not equate progressivism to fascism.

(That was, probably correctly if the adulation of Franco and Pinochet is accurate, a descriptor of the book by the reviewer in OP.)

Sounds like a book I need to read. It's probably pretty spot on. Look what happened in Venezuela. It's what happens when people like that get the power. We've seen it throughout history. Even the Nazis were socialists.

The good progressives like those who enjoy capitalistic societies like Denmark or Norway, should be careful about who they are following before we start seeing things like Venezuala. Because it all sounded so good. We are just being good neighbors or looking out for each other etc. It can go bad pretty fast.

When you start hearing things like what Harris has said and her new VP. You should start asking questions like how do you plan on doing that? Are we talking about socialists with extra steps?

Cause I know the vast majority of the leftists on this board at least are far more interested in Denmark type of program instead of a Venezuelan one even when it sounded good in it's infancy.

There are radicals on all sides here and rhe leftist radicals are just as dangerous as the right wing radicals.

And yet you seem to think that a book that labels us as "unhuman" is "probably pretty spot on"? Why?

Posobeic has long been connected to fascist ideologies, posted neo-nazi dog-whistles, promoted and created conspiracy theories, and cooperated with authoritarian governments.

Nothing about this list or the Vance endorsement is surprising, unfortunately.

Because it bothers you that Vance thought this might be worth reading.

It's a book. You are angry that Vance dared say he likes the book and thought it was worth reading.

If it makes you angry that's all I need to know there's something in it - good bad or otherwise that was the advertisement the right needed to know it's probably a good book.

It's like French films, they get hyped up but no one likes them... They really are horrible. But the hoity toity people love them and hype them up.

Well the right aren't the hoity toity people, but we learned things are good or bad by the amount of hype from the hoity toity people, or lack thereof.

In this case, the far left is the French film critic who is guiding the right on which film to avoid and which we should see. We just don't like French films and the left does.

Your kind of standing up in public screaming this is not a horrible French film. It's good advertising. I'm going to want to read the book myself now...

I think it's because Democrats are Marxist's and communists now.
Do you understand that that statement just isn't true? It is propagandists like Poso tha push that nonsense.

Huh?

Why does my being concerned about this have any bearing on your opinion of it? I linked to both the NYT piece and the Google Books excerpt so that you all could read as much of it for yourselves as I have. Why would you take the position of "well, if iluvatar5150 doesn't like it, then there must be something to it" when you can bypass my opinion altogether?

Either way, I'm not angry at this. I'm bothered by the facts that 1.) a prominent right-wing personality wrote a book with such an extreme characterization ("saying the quiet part out loud" as it were) and 2.) a US senator and the current republican VP nominee (as well as several others in the orbit of the presidential nominee) saw fit to not just agree with it, but promote it. For all the hay the right has made about the left supposedly holding them in contempt, this is objectively worse. Does this not strike you as problematic?

I think it's because Democrats are Marxist's and communists now.

This is an insult to them because this is what they are. Communists.

They are just communists that have managed to capture a major political party in the United States.
I think/hope most are just the misguided masses. Those in charge of running the show are the real culprits.

What is poso tha?

I've never heard this term before..
Poso is the fascist who wrote the book this thread is about. Jack Posob-something.
(Sorry, I just want to make sure I understand you)

As far as being communists, your nominee's for the Democratic party's presidential ticket says otherwise.

Kamala calls herself a radical progressive and woke enthusiast
"Woke" and "progressive" are not synonyms for communism.
and her running mate openly declared he's a socialist.
No he didn't.
Says everything about the new party you all have over there these days.
I'm not actually a Democrat, but I am part of the anti-Trump, anti-authoritarianism faction. The Democratic Party (a non-socialist, non-Marxist, non-Communist of the center left) is the primary component, but there are plenty of independents (like me) and anti-Trump Republicans.

That's blatantly false. There are actual Communist parties in the US, Democrats aren't one of them.
