  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I found it to be a very deep emotional movie. Although funny it was underlyingly sad and truthfull. It is about the gulf war and how the soldires were before and after they joined the marines and how all their lives change and how they affect each other and so on. It realy isnt suitable for young children.

I finally rented Jarhead and watched it today. Loved the movie, will probably wind up buying a copy of it. I could totally relate to the emotions and to just about every aspect in the movie. The one scene that stood out to me was when they came home and while during their parade, a former Marine Vietnam vet jumped on the bus, welcomed them home and asked if he could ride with them - something he never got when he rotated back across the Pond to the US. I was moved with that. Hard to explain but that was a nice touch.

All in all, a good movie about the Marines, regardless of a war or not. Although there is around 20 yrs between the time frame represented in the movie and when I was a marine in the 70s, some of things never change and that was good to see.
