Does one Orthodox priest represent your church? If so, I would love to have a link to him from you....

I don't mean any disrespect. He seems to hold himself out as mainstream, but I have trouble believing that he is.

Just curious -- does Pastor Jan Marcussen represent mainstream SDA thought?

How do you define "mainstream SDA thought"?

What do you think it is?

Pr. M. puts out many books and videos. I have seen many of them and so far I have not found them to be different to what I believe.

Give us an idea as to what you have in mind.

No, he does not. He is not an Adventist pastor in the employ of any conference within the Adventist church and has not been for decades, since the early 1980s.

It is believed the last Adventist church he held membership in was the 3ABN church, from which he was removed from fellowship in 1999 or 2000.

While you will find Adventists that agree with his particular brand of extremism, he is not representative of the positions put forth by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

In His service,
Mr. J

I didn' see your honest question as disrespectful at all, minorclergy, but rather a bit self-defeating.

If you have NOT read him, you may want to and then read another SDA writer to compare. To assume that one man can represent 14 million members is an impossibility among Adventists.

If you HAVE read him, and do not like something he has written, feel free to ask here, but you will get many different opinions here....none OFFICIAL....even though awesometenor's sounded very official.

Explore with us your questions, if you like, but don't expect consensus; perhaps you should ask Mr. Marcussen himself about his statements....go to the source.

I will try and do some checking to see if this is correct or not.

I am not aware of this, but will see for myself.

Fortunately, not too many of them do this. :)

I once had a dear old brother who purchased a few cases of the Sunday Law book and then asked me to help pass them out to people on the street. I asked him, how would that help those who never heard the gospel.

Why are you sorry?

There are thousands that became SDAs after reading the National Sunday Law. And I am one of them.

The problem is that people don't want to hear the truth. It divides them so they have to be either cold or hot.

I think you will find that the book in question has taken most of its' quotes from "Great Controversy".

We can hardly say it is wrong.

"Great Controversy" has been main stream Adventism for well over 100 years and I hope it continues to be.

Already the judgments of God are abroad in the land, as seen in storms, in floods, in tempests, in earthquakes, in peril by land and by sea. The great I AM is speaking to those who make void His law. When God's wrath is poured out upon the earth, who will then be able to stand? Now is the time for God's people to show themselves true to principle. When the religion of Christ is most held in contempt, when His law is most despised, then should our zeal be the warmest and our courage and firmness the most unflinching. To stand in the defense of truth and righteousness when the majority forsake us, to fight the battles of the Lord when champions are few--this will be our test. At this time we must gather warmth from the coldness of others, courage from their cowardice, and loyalty from their treason. . . . {SD 201.3}

Cliff, the truth is never welcomed. Ellen White herself was shunned by her own church. Saddly I don't even think 1 out of every 100 SDAs are ready. The truth exposes their wickedness. And I see they hate that message with passion. That's why the SOP tells us most of God's people are still outside the SDA church waiting to hear the 3 angels message preached with the power of the holy spirit.

God never needed the majority to be on His side. He only calls a few. I'm just gladly there still are few like Jan Marcussen are still preaching that everlast gospel (3AM). I don't know his personal relationship with God. I can only check the fruits. Marcussen has brought in more good fruits than any of us can offer here.

The National Sunday Law does convince some people. However, I think it turns off way more people than it helps and makes them think that we belong to a cult or something.

My sheep knows my voice and they follow me. You think Jesus convinced everyone when He was here? Wasn't He the one who started the Christianity at that point was considered a sect also?
