Peace in Christ.
Learn not the way of the “heathen”…the outside nations of the world.
The “customs”…that is, their statutes (contained in handwritings)…are emptiness (vain).
We…His people…are not to do what they do (make governing handwritings) and place them in our gathering places of the worship of God…our churches. Our God is a jealous God. We must not be a "friend" of the world in this thing for the Spirit of God that dwells in us lusts to envy...that is, He is a jealous God. James 4:5 .
The governmental handwritings are exalted to “heaven” in the eyes of the nations...and in our churches. They are “dismayed”…that is, to prostrate out of fear…at them. They highly revere them.
We are to fear God and keep His commandments and not those of fleshly-minded men who do not have the mind of Christ. His commandments are written upon our hearts and minds to keep and serve.
Fleshly-minded men have their man-made doctrines and commandments written externally to revere…to keep and serve. They judge others with them.
Jer 10:2-6 KJV
(2) Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
The church handwritings are dead works….just as a tree that is cut out of a living forest with an axe.
The “tree” that is cut down is now dead.
The fruit of that tree is death for those who keep and serve it. Church documents are being used to judge others with supposedly in God’s authority….serving THE sin. They judge others using their own standards. Supposedly in His name….authority…do they cast out “devils”….judging others as “evil doers”. In His “name”…authority…do they do all of these “wonderful works”. Matthew 7:22 .
We must not copy (image of their likeness) the nations of the outside world and have these dead works in our churches.
They are the work of the hands of the workman….the hands of the church scribes. We are to rest from our “works”….not having them in our churches.
(3) For the customs (STATUTES. ordinances) of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
The governing church handwritings of man are considered precious (they are decked with silver and gold) to those who worship them. They are a source of money for them.
They fasten them with nails and with hammers (preaching them with convincing words that firmly establish them in the ears of their congregations) so that it moves not out of their churches.
They firmly establish their handwritings in them. They “move not” from their churches and are passed down from one generation to another.
(4) They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
The church handwritings seem upright…they seem like works of righteousness.
(5) They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
The church handwritings (statements of faith, etc) seem to be upright…even words of truth.
Ecc 12:10-12 KJV
(10) The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.
They are fastened with nails and hammers as they are considered words of the wise (goads) and as nails fastened by their preachers’ words in their ears.
But we only have One Shepherd who can do such things.
(11) The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.
There is no end of making many “books”…that is, WRITINGS. Why be subject to the church handwritings? Why carefully observe them (“study”) as they are a “weariness of the flesh.”
(12) And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books (Hebrew- sêpher =WRITINGS) there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
We are to fear God and keep His commandments….not fear the church handwritings and keep their commandments of men.
Ecc 12:13 KJV
(13) Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
For the “knowledge” that is contained in the church handwritings is false.
Every man is “brutish”…consumed by fire…in his knowledge (contained in his handwritings). They that do them perish Colossians. 2:22 .
Every founder is shamed by the “graven” (by the church scribes’ lying pen) image. Their “molten image”….rigid handwritings that never change nor move…is falsehood. They are emptiness (vanity) and the work of errors. There is no spirit in them....no breath...like our God who is a Living Spirit.
Jer 10:14-15 KJV
(14) Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
(15) They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
The work of men’s hands….the handwritings of ordinances by the church scribes…are worthless even though they think that they are precious (such as silver and gold).
They that make them and everyone that trusts in them are like them. They have eyes to see and ears to hear but they see not nor do they hear.
Psa 115:4-8 KJV
(4) Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
(5) They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:
(6) They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:
(7) They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.
(8) They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.
Our LORD is the living One. A piece of paper with codified dogmas is not living. Our LORD is our living Judge…..a piece of paper is not living. Our LORD is our Lawgiver…..not a church handwriting by the church scribes. The LORD is our King…not those who rule over us with their governing church documents.
Isa 33:22 KJV
(22) For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.
He is the LORD our “God”…that is, our Living JUDGE. HE has brought us out of the land of “Egypt”. We are dead to the “rudiments” of the world (Egypt) in Christ. Colossians 2:20 .
Deu 5:6-9 KJV
(6) I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
We are not to have “other gods”…that is, other judges before Him. The church handwritings are being used to judge others with in His place. They are being used as “other gods”…other judges…ABOVE Him who is the Living Judge.
(7) Thou shalt have none other gods before (ABOVE) me.
The church handwritings/documents are “graven images” made like the “rudiments of the world”…in the likeness of the outside world’s governing documents (such as “constitutions”). Whoever is a “friend” of the world in this matter is the enemy of God.
(8) Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
We are not to have them in our places of worship to bow down to and serve. The living LORD our God (JUDGE) is a jealous God. He visits the iniquity of the church fathers (the sin of having church handwritings) upon the children….because they pass down these church handwritings to future generations for them to keep and serve more than God.
(9) Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
We must not have that “friendship” with the world in this matter….copying their governing documents and placing them in our churches to keep and serve. We show we "hate" Him when we do these things We are an "enemy of God" in this thing. "Enmity" = hatred.
Jas 4:4-5 KJV
(4) Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
The Spirit of God that dwells in us “lusts to envy”…as He is a jealous God.
(5) Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
Learn not the way of the “heathen”…the outside nations of the world.
