What is the explanation of this verse? Other verses that talk about being enemies of God is saying what we once were before being reconciled to God, but this seems to be talking to people that were already Christians
James 4:4 King James Version
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Matthew 7:22-24 King James Version
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Many professed "Christians" are not yet they claim to be saved and they are not
It is very simple
John 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Matthew 22:37-40
King James Version
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
CRITICAL THINKING IS REQUIRED
If the verses 37 and 39 are the new commandments then what is the law that hangs on them?
2 John King James Version
5 And now I beseech thee, lady,
not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
6
And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
