  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

We have a large proportion of Aussies and Brits.

Is that due to the Strong Position of Anglicanism in both countries?

Just something I've noticed.

There are also quite a few Americans :)

Now back to your tea ;)

I will have an Early Grey thanks and some biscuits

Probably, anglicanism in the UK covers pretty much the whole spectrum of beliefs. I suspect that if I lived in the USA I wouldn't be anglican.

Now back to your tea ;)

Americans are funny about tea. I asked for the some the other week on a domestic flight in the US. The response I got was "Hot?". Not a question you would hear in the UK.

In the mid 70's work was very scarce due to an economic recession. I came very close to emigrating to Australia. There was a lack of skilled trades to meet a building boom there and they were recruiting carpenters, electricians and pipe fitters. I ended up finding work, but I had the forms ready to fill out.

All Praise be unto them to them for having any, period!

However, it is easy enough to throw a few basic, paper tea bags into whatever kitchen or galley one is running to cover this possibility. I've been at enough dinners and banquets to know the "Oh, yes, we also have Joe who likes to drink tea, so keep some hot water on hand for him" footnote.

It's as though Joe, the malcontent, was insistsent upon drinking kumquat juice and nothing but.

But yes, iced tea is probably more popular than hot tea in the US. Say...Maybe your situation is the corollary to what Americans often say about ordering a cola in the UK: "Don't you have any ice for it?"

Actually, I may be a minority, but I don't put ice in cola, it just waters down the flavor.

Well, you are the expert, as I understand it, COLABOMB ;) . (I'm not sure how to spell afficionado or connoisseur!)

Ice also takes up space, which may account for most Americans expecting it. I mean, merchants routinely use ice to cut down on the amount of fluid in your purchase, so maybe we've just become accustomed to it.

OK. Now for the subject of "sweet tea....":D

(a particular fave of mine and, no doubt, another abomination in the eyes of the purist, right?) ;)

Even though I'm a Yank, I'm salivating.
