  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's time to lighten up...

I just read a thread that made me a little angry because it upsets me to see so many people that aren't satisfied with their life and unhappy because of it.

So let's lighten the mood a little bit by naming a few things in your life that you are a happy with and would like to thank God for giving you.

I'm happy for my new home and the chance to start over and make new memories in a new place.

I'm happy for my friend and roommate who has been an awesome friend and a huge supporter.

I'm happy that I have a good job, with good benefits who's giving me a good chunk of time off to take a vacation.

I'm happy that God has provided me with all these things as well as avoice and a vocabulary so that I can speak whatever is on my mind and share God with others.

Who's next?

You might want to check out Fishstix thread, he was saying the same type of thing. Hope you enjoy...
I did check that out. It was a great thread. I just wish that more people recognized the good in their lives and were thankful for it.

Yeah Outoftheflames,
God is good, He has given health, a job, a place to live, the ability to play music, lead worship, cycle and walk, see and hear, comfort and peace, joy in place of tears, a Friend called Jesus that makes cry with gratitude.
Beauty countryside, a church thats growing, God is good, and although the pain is here the blessings are real...Bless you JOHN

Same here, and if it was any of my posting that angered you I do apologize, that was never my intent
From what I've seen, you'd appear to be one of the level headed ones...

Everyone is entitled to their opinion anyway, right? As long as I have the right to call them on it, it's all good.

my daughters and the fact that they are healthy and happy kids.

that my parents and brother were willing to take the kids and me in and to help me give them a sense of family.

my friends, I just wish I could spend more time with you in person.

my health.

that my warped sense of humor has remained intact over the years.

my job, even if it's one that I don't really like, it pays the bills and provides insurance.

my talents with needlearts, sewing and quilting (my sanity preserver).

anything else I haven't thought of.... :amen:

I am happy for my health, my relationship with God through his one and only awesome Son, Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior, for my parents, my siblings and their spouses, my nephews and nieces, for not letting me make so many mistakes like getting married and having a family because I enjoy being single and childless because that means I like my independence and privacy.

My posts have a tendency to tick people off. Most don't get my warped sense of humour.

Thankful for:

Health (rather deal with my severe allergies than cancer)
I don't have a car payment at the moment
I am able to live on my own independent of my parents
I had the strength to put myself through college...with very little help from anyone
I have a job...no, make that 3...in a town that just saw the loss of 1000 more jobs.
I am not in Iraq and no one in my family is either (my apologies and prayers to anyone who has loved ones over there)
My two cats
Warm weather
My sense of humour (even if nobody else gets it)
my close friends

and...

I am very thankful that I am not living in a miserable environment being married to a no-good, lazy, verbally abusive alcoholic. He's someone else's problem now! yeah!!!!!! :)

Nathan West, who plays Rob McClanahan in "Miracle" appeared in the second Mighty Ducks (D2) as the goalie for Iceland. However, they didn't find it necessary to mention this in the credits.
