Absolutely. The British styled parliamentary system seems way better than the USA system where you vote one man and his backup and give him the keys to the kingdom for 4 years.
It does have a few advantages, I'll give you that.

-- A2SG, but I doubt we're ready for a complete overhaul of the US Constitution....though, that might change after four years of Trump.....

Have you been watching the news?
That depends on what you consider to be an accurate news source. If it's the kind of news source that's full of anti US administration headlines every day, then probably not.

Just one that tells the news, really. Doesn't have to be anything fancy.

Even looking at youtube you can catch up on the latest news.

Trump is slapping a 25% tariff on Canada tomorrow.

Also Trump talking about wanting Canada as the 51st state

It's kinda funny with this last video because Trump says he looks at the trade deals with Canada and Mexico and he says "who the hell did that?"
The answer of course is that the Trade arrangement between Canada, Mexico and USA is the one that Trump was bragging about putting in place himself during his first term. The Biden administration didn't change it.

The trade war starts tonight.
Ontario governor is threatening huge tariffs - even embargoes - on certain critical minerals. (They're not "raw earths" Trump!)
Wow. Ford did not pull any punches there. I should raise a glass of Canadian Club and say 'Good luck, my man. And well said'.

Personally I don't know if the deals Trump is talking about when he said, "who the hell did that?" were previous deals he had made.

Is he was referring to his own deals something you concluded on your own, or did you hear/read someone saying he was talking about his own deals, and you accepted that as fact?

Part of it is about paying attention to the news
Another part is about having a memory
And the other part is about doing some quick research

I saw during Trump's first term, when he fabricated some conflict (tariffs, yawn) between USA, Canada and Mexico because he was searching for leverage to negotiation a new trade agreement. Then they tweaked ever so slightly the current trade deal and Trump bragged about how great it was.
I saw lately this clip where Trump was talking about how bad the current trade agreement is between USA, Canada and Mexico.

I remembered what Trump did in his first term,
So I did a little research to see if the Biden admin had changed the trade agreement, but they hadn't.

It wasn't hard
1. Pay attention to the news
2. Remember stuff
3. Do some research and verify what you remember and looking into if there are things you have missed.

Sorry but I'm not seeing how "I look at some of the deals made, and I say to myself who the hell made these deals" must exclusively be referring to what you've listed above. Are those the only deals ever made with Canada and is Trump the only person in US government who makes deals with Canada? It seems to me it's wide field involving various deals made by/with various individuals, and you're saying it's a very narrow exclusive field.

Well it took one president and his party taking things too far to change the way we elect presidents here completely around. Before it was that the parliament chose the president (from the largest party as the party naturally had the most votes), the voters themselves had no direct say in the matter. When Kekkonens party kept him as president waaayyy past he was in any shape to hold power (failing health, mental issues and such) and tried to hide these things from everyone to keep their guy in the presidency, the backlash was so great when they just couldn't keep up the pretense that the whole system was changed and the next president and from then on were chosen by a direct vote by the people.

[[ start off topic rant....
Westminster vs Presidential System
It's way off topic - but yes - I hear you! In fact - the Westminster system seems to short circuit so much of the 'personality politics.' It's high - but it's not all consuming. The party picks who the party picks - and if the leader when in office does stupid stuff and offends the majority of the nation - they don't even have to invoke something like the 25th. They just get out the knives! Australia's had a revolving door of unpopular leaders on both sides the last decade. A LOT of it is to do with climate policy - some have called it the 'climate wars.' Fossil fuel companies have had a lot of influence over here.
But then you get the plain crazy. When Tony Abbott Knighted Prince Phillip on Australia Day - the nation nearly puked. He reintroduced the whole silly system just for that! He was out just over 7 months later.
Also - the sheer amount of money involved in the Presidential election process amazes people. Politics is expensive enough - the various rounds in a Presidential system just make it even more expensive.

Finally - voluntary voting means you appeal to the more 'energized' voters. Every election has to be 'critical for the nation' to get people to go and vote. When it's compulsory, and on a Saturday, the politicians need to appeal to the bored middle. In a voluntary system - they tend to appeal to the crazed edges - because they're the ones more likely to vote! So voluntary voting drives the incentive towards louder and more extreme claims all around. They're appealing to the frenzied edges.
... end off topic rant ]]]

Perfect? Let's just settle for normal. Republicans had a large pool to choose from in the primaries. It's beyond me why someone else wasn't chosen. But I think I am beginning to have a pretty good idea why.
Be blessed.

Stop trolling me.

Trump is President.

It’s time to MOVE ON.

Peace.
There are three House seat elections April 1. All in heavily Republican districts, but if we can get out the vote strongly and if there are enough disgruntled Independents we could put up a guardrail.
I am sure the Dem opponents are fairly conservative--but they wouldn't rubber stamp craziness.
I hope the Dems in those districts are working double time to save our country.
It's time to move on.

The Atlanta Fed’s GDPNow estimate now calls for a first-quarter GDP decline of 2.8%, down from a decline of 1.5% on Friday. As recently as Feb. 19, GDPNow predicted growth of 2.3%.

I'm not trolling you. I know Trump is the USA president. I just think it is the understatement of the year to just say "well, he isn't perfect" in response to someone saying he is tanking your economy, creating inflation, creating conflict and animosity with your best ally.
this is an unforced error, totally unnecessary, your economic woes are completely self inflicted. Why don't Republican supporters try to get the message to their congressmen, to their president that this isn't what you voted for?

You guys voted for him, in part to reduce the cost of living, and he is rushing to create inflation.
Oh, well he isn't perfect.

Are you scared to say things against anything that he does?
No. I can criticize him all I want.

It's amazing to me how quickly things are happening, usually a new president/prime minister inherits the economy and rides that for a while before their new policies bare any fruit.

But this administration are rushing in with all guns blazing, doing very controversial things. So, I just find it amazing how quickly it's impacting the market.

He wants to get work done. He’s a hard worker. That’s why he is rushing things.

The best way to move on is to turn the House, difficult but possible, and minimize the dangers. Then sweep the midterms like we did in 1998 and shut him down till we can vote him out.
That is moving on.
Inertia is perilous.

Investors, the Fed and others are realizing that Trump is actually implementing measures that will impact GDP, inflation, employement, etc.

Well….i didn’t want the alternative, I am NOT saying, BY ANY MEANS, Trump is perfect. FAR FROM IT.

I have nothing else to add.

And this is the problem in todays American politics.

Today's American politics face a problem where people support politicians not because they agree with them, but because they believe the alternative is worse. This "lesser of two evils" mindset can be acceptable if both candidates are flawed and one must choose. However, voting for someone because he is "lesser of two evils" doesn't mean you can't criticize their policies. Democracy allows us to support and critique politicians simultaneously. The same applied to Democrats who defended President Biden despite his shortcomings, simply because they deemed Trump worse. As a result Dems lost in 2024.

Republicans will face the same situation in 2026 if they continue to say, "Trump is far from perfect, but I have nothing to add."

However, I completely disagree with this thread. President Trump is fulfilling his campaign promises, and voters should not be surprised by his actions. He promised a trade war, which he has initiated. If Democrats oppose his policies, they should aim to win back Congress in 2026 to implement checks and balances. Talk of invoking the 25th Amendment or impeachment is unfounded.
