Dear Daily Message Readers,
READ: Psalm 25:1-11
Psalm 25:3 (NKJV) "Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed; Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause."
An old poem I came across the other day goes like this: "Patience is a virtue, possess it if you can. Found seldom in a woman, never in a man" (Anon.)
What an interesting poem! (though I must admit, it is true...). But, alas, patience is a tough lesson to learn. However, it is an important spiritual principle to learn. God's plans for us may include extended times of waiting for Him to act. This was true of Abraham in Genesis, who waited many long, slow years for God to fulfill His promise to give him a son. And it was certainly also true of David, who as a young man was anointed by Samuel as Israel's next king, but who chose to wait for God's timing rather than take the throne by violence as some of his peers had suggested he do.
The simple truth, though, is that we can choose to be patient. Nothing is better for us than waiting on the Lord (Psalm 25:3). Accepting the truth that God doesn't do everything at once and that His timing is best will answer nearly all of the questions we have about life and His plan for us.
Let me also say this: I know how hard waiting can be, and I am not saying that being patient is easy, because it is not! Whether you are wondering where the money to pay the bills will come from, waiting to hear how a job interview went, or if you are eager to find out if a special girl thinks you are the guy for her, it is hard. Though you want to speed things up and see what the Lord has for you immediately, sometimes you just have to wait.
Are you currently on hold in your prayer life? Are you waiting on the Lord? Then be patient. Your faith is growing. It is worth the wait to get God's best.
Faith Lesson: Psalm 40:1: "I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry."
