In the past I was drilled in with we are still saved by the blood of Jesus no matter how lawlessly we live. This hyper grace stuff. I do believe we are saved by grace, but that doesn't give us a license to abuse it.

As I was told by a friend.
John you MUST get clear on this: Holiness of living is not an option but a commandment for the truly born again, the redeemed, those who have been regenerated: Jesus said, "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?" Matthew 6:46

So we cannot have just faith, can we?

Would it be safe to believe we are saved by trusting in Jesus as Lord and Savior and what he did for us. Then live a life of Holiness instead of sin?

Because what if we take that grace for granted? I don't think the outcome will be pleasant.

I have took the Grace for granted on occasion, and the sin is hurting the relationship with the Lord. I fear of losing it for good if I continue sin even when the Lord freed me from it in the first place.

Sin is not worth it.

Yes we are saved by faith and we show our love for Jesus by the way we live our lives.

Holy living doesn't save us, it just shows who/what we are.

Once saved always saved is an untruth. Jesus didnt suffer and die so that we shouldnt care about any future sin. We will always be sinners. We will always need to repent and ask God for forgiveness.

"Forgive us our trespasses" was not put in Our Lords Prayer just to pad it out!

I replied to the wrong person sorry

As I discovered myself it is every so easy to click and start repling.
What one can do, if quick, is go back to the post and click on 'edit' and either delete it all, leaving a full stop or sorry etc or an amended post.

The problem is this, and I do understand where you are coming from, but. If you say to someone: ''You are saved by grace through faith, but as a Christian you must live a life of holiness instead of sin'' It may sound a perfect statement. But it can only remain a perfect statement if your listener believes their salvation does not hinge, as a Christian on not committing sin. And that statement implies otherwise. So anyone who goes by the implication, must then believe their righteousness before God as a Christian is not committing sin/obeying the law, and that, on multiple occasions contradicts Paul's core message
