  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

When the law says he does; i.e., when he gets his citizenship, and not before.

Baloney. . .the citizenship laws are not broken.

The immigration system is broken.

At what point does a non-citizen, who has been living, working and contributing to our society deserve representation?
When they become a citizen. It isn't a difficult concept to grasp.

I think only resident citizens should be able to vote. Am I a Nationalist?

Nope. I agree with you. However, we need to address the large amount of people living in our country without status...and representation.

Resident non-citizens have a *long* history of voting in *local* elections in this country. I'm not sure that there has *ever* been a total, nation-wide prohibition on non-citizens voting in local elections.

(This is not elections for national office.)
Yeah. There were a lot of non-citizens who are voting Democrat. Which is exactly why the Democrats are doing nothing to secure the border.

For national office? If yes, cite your source.

The citizenship system would mitigate that.

I don't know what you mean as the "Citizen system" is but one component of the broken immigration system. I dealt directly with this broken system in the early 90's. It's even worse now...

A border where people cannot walk across without going through full interviews with Border guards.

And this is why returning to this country through customs is so obnoxious.

I agree. And it's too bad that wasn't addressed 40 years ago. Ever since, our American companies and individuals have gainfully employed illegal immigrants. Let's stop pretending our country is going to expel x million people and reset the clock. We need immigration reform, including a path to citizenship. Otherwise, the number of people living in the shadows will grow.
It's grown by 2 million in 21 months

Since the elected council of DC is overwhelmingly in favor, I would assume that the general population is at least pretty favorable to it as well. So again, I must wonder what the problem is.
The problem is allowing illegal immigrants to vote in any election, no matter how the law that allows them to is passed.

I would hate to inconvenience people who have no respect for our laws or accidentally stop a terrorist

So you think anyone should be able to walk in with explosives in their belt?

Where did I say that?

I've been through Schengen-area customs, Swiss customs, Australian customs, Canadian customs, and US customs, and by far the worst was US customs -- and I'm a native-born US citizen with a US passport. (Now I haven't tried British customs, I hear they can be rather obnoxious as well.) My point was US customs is already bad at border crossings, why is everyone trying to make it worse.

Of course, IEDs are the modern weapon of choice for insurgencies so they need to be included under the second amendment so we could effectively oppose a tyrannical government.
