Its all so complicated!

Some say just believe and you will be saved, but then I see scripture like this-

Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby. For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leads unto life, and few are they that find it.

Now if all we have to do is believe to be saved then why are there so many who will end up in hell? believing is simple right? or is it?





Then there are those who say that our good works count for nothing and then I find another contradiction to this in the Bible-

Matthew 13:24-30 Jesus told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.

27"The owner's servants came to him and said, 'Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?'
28" 'An enemy did this,' he replied.
"The servants asked him, 'Do you want us to go and pull them up?' 29" 'No,' he answered, 'because while you are pulling the weeds, you may root up the wheat with them. 30Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.' "





Honestly............what saves us? if we just say we believe that Jesus died for our sins and then live like a complete reprobate then how is that really believing?

And if good works do not count for anything then why do I find so much to contradict this fact in the Bible?


I want to know what true salvation is and how to obtain it, I do not want to end up in hell but everything seems so complicated that If I dont get one part of this right then I will burn in hell for ever and ever. Suddenly I am scared to even breath anymore for fear that I am sinning or not obeying God.

Suddenly my computer games are a sin and they are going to send me to hell, or any other worldy object that I seem to place before God. If I dont get rid of certain material items which I believe that God has shown it to be an idol in my life placed above him will I go to hell?

In short im absolutely terrified of God and all I can do is picture him frowning down on me constantly and then to make matters worse my friends tell me that to get to heaven that I just need to rest in the finished work of Christ and then I get even more afraid and condemned because I know for a fact that with all this paranoia and fear that im not resting in Christ the way that im being told to do.

Hey Robert...I wish I could help you but all I can say is I can totally relate to your statement that you are terrified of God and see him as frowning down on you. entering in through the narrow gate means turning and trusting in Christ. The reason why it is narrow and difficult is because we have a sin nature and we have to repent on a regular bases. Most people dont want to turn away from sinning against God, so that is why they are on the broad way.

Its ok to have video games and stuff like that, just as long as it doesnt break up your relationship with God. And when it does, just repent and ask for forgivness and put more time with God. When God convicts us with stuff like this, people with ocd seem to take it to the extreme, and feel as if they are going to hell, or they must get rid of it all together. Thats just your ocd. If God wanted you to get rid of it, HE would gently show you that He wants you to get rid of it. Not the tormenting tirent that some people think He is. I will be praying for you.

I know where your coming from Robert. I to am afraid that im going to hell. Im afraid because the type of believe that John 3:16 says by the Strongs Concordance is faith and Faith, trust. If im always terrafied then how can i honestly say that i im trusting. I also question wether or not i truly believe. If all i want is to know if im saved or not and im still uncertain after years it doesnt make sense to me. It seems that if i was saved then surely God would want me to know that. I dont like unbelief. I feel so numb and have for so long i feel like nothing has any meaning anymore. I just started that p90x thing and i even feel bad about that because im afraid that im being vain. I hope i dont go to hell. I also dont believe for a second that if God does truly exist and everything in the bible is true then ocd or not He would want us, everyone, to know that we are saved. Thats just some of the reasons that im afraid that im going to hell. I also dont know how to trust, accept, recieve, believe in my heart, and most of the time i feel like i have sinned or know that i have but have not felt bad for it which makes me feel bad. I just dont know anymore. Im tired of living like this and im afraid that i just dont really care anymore. If God and Jesus are truly out there than i want to know Them and i have prayed that so many times. I have also prayed whatever it takes but i cant tell if it is God telling me to do something, OCD, myself or the devil. I just dont know. Im so depressed.

People with ocd have to make a descion and just live as if He did save you. ocd also makes us have intrusive thoughts and may lead us to think that God is leading us to do something, but its not, its the ocd. The majority of the time that God leads people dis through His Word.

Just like someone who constatly checks the door if its locked have to come to the grip and just except that it is locked, so also you have to just live as if He saved you. He is worthy of our full worship and just let Him deal with your salvation. Just say " Lord, im gonna live as if you saved me, even with all these doubts, and im gonna let you deal with my salvation, and let it be in Your hands" . This has helped me a lot. I have good days and bad, but i just walk by faith and live as if He did save me. I hope this helps and I will be praying for you guys.
