Congress shifts between Republican and Democrat on a fairly regular basis -- Doing so yet again does not a "bloodbath" make.
FOX is calling this "historical". Historically what? There has been far more sweeping change in even recent past elections.
Historically underwhelming given all the hype perhaps?

My favorite that Fox does is when they show a map of the country with counties colored depending on how they voted (red or blue) and there's always one idiot on their panel who says something along the lines "See, over 90% of America is red - America is a solid GOP country".

Hah...you gotta be kidding me. This is the biggest gain in the House since 1938!!! The last big gain like this was in 1994 when voters punished Clinton for his liberal policies and that was 54 seats. This is 61 and counting and may reach 67 seats. This is HUGE!!! You need to be 72 or older to have been alive when something like this has happend. Everyone Obama despartely campaigned for lost. HOORAY!!!!

Apparantly for FOX, 2006 is "pre-history" because I'd call the Dems taking both houses of Congress, including taking the House after 12 years of Republican control, a little bit more "historical."

That example perfectly epitomizes what's so grotesquely wrong with the recent advent of pop culture conservatism.

The House last changed hands in 2006 -- not exactly an uncommon occurrence.

Far be it for me to disrupt your victory dance -- but isn't winning the election secondary to what you actually do once you're in office?

I agree that this is simple minded rhetoric which fools only the fools. It was much the same as stating that Palin governed the largest state in the union, without pointing out that the population is no bigger than a medium sized California city. Palin governed uninhabital land quite well!

Yeah, the Dems picked up 21 House seats in 2008.

This year, Republicans pick up over 60.

Not even a close comparison.

I did not see Nathan Poe make that comparison. What is important is what he said in the second paragraph. Let's see what the republicans can do now that they are in control.

The amount of seats that were transfered is relatively historic but I don't think Republicans won so much as Democrats lost.

Agreed -- midterm elections generally go bad for whatever party controls the White House -- the current state of the economy only magnifies the effect.

I look forward to seeing the House and Senate work on our pressing issues.

Oh yes, it's gonna be a blast:

House: Let's do X!
Senate: NO WAY!
Senate: Lets do Y!
House: NO WAY!
President: Hey guys, could we get something done?
House & Senate: SHUT UP!
