An elderly gentleman was visiting his doctor and wanted to address a concern he had about his digestion. "Doctor," he began, "I have been having a lot of gas and silent flatulence lately." The man continued, "Last week, in a nice restaurant, I had silent passage of gas. Every day, every night, I have been passing gas silently. Last night, at a large family gathering, I had several instances of silent passage of gas. And, just now, I experienced silent passage of gas." He looked pleadingly at the doctor and asked, "Is there anything you can do to help me?" The doctor smiled comfortingly and said, "Absolutely, but first we need to check your hearing!"
