I have tried and tried and tried to be a good Christian but it seems like God just doesn't want me is that possible?

Nope, not possible. God wants you as His daughter!

1 John 3:1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are.

One thing you need to keep in mind is that you will NEVER be "good enough" for God. We've all fallen short. God's salvation is a gift to us, we can't do anything to earn it or be worthy of it. You just have to accept it. And once you accept it, while you should strive to be holy and always getting closer to God, you cannot earn your salvation OR His love by trying to be good. Salvation is a gift and God's love is absolute; they don't change. Can God become displeased with you or discipline you? Absolutely, but His love for your never changes. One you're His, you're His.

A good christian is a person that has a real relationship with Jesus. I feel like he doesn't want me because even though I pray and read the bible everyday, and try my best not to sin I don't have a relationship with him.

So maybe you need to back up and examine whether or not you're truly saved? Belief isn't enough, even the demons believe. Is He your Lord? Is He your God? If not, all this other worry and stress is useless. You need to get back to the beginning. You can't nurture a relationship that doesn't exist yet. Is there a pastor you can go to, to talk about this?

Without getting too upset I see you're pentecostal. I think sometimes charismatics are unrealistic about the way God works in our lives.

The Way of the Holy Spirit is often very subtle and you can't often see him moving and directing things, until you look back at them and the whole plan is unveiled.

I see you're about to go into surgery. Christ never ever promised us this life would be easy. Quite the opposite actually. He only promised us it would be worth it... so hang in their sister. I'll include you in the prays of my family.

God bless, and have a hug! ;)

According to Rev 3.20, Jesus stands at the door of your heart and knocks, and if you invite Him in, He will dine with you. In other words, if you don't have a relationship with Jesus, it's not because He doesn't want you (Mat 7.8), it's because you are not submitted (John 15.14)

If you really want to draw close to the Lord, pray for His will not yours. Ask Him to draw you close and He will. Ask Him to show you the sin that is keeping you separated, and then ask for forgiveness. Then repent.

It's also great that you read the Bible. Pray before reading that God would reveal truth to you that you need to hear. Don't just read the words so that you do your Christian duty; dig into the word deeply, and apply what it says to your life.

Being a "good" Christian is not about doing. It is about loving the Lord enough to submit your entire life to His care. He is faithful to care for you as no one else can, and worthy of your full trust. The choice is yours whether you are willing to trust him with your life.

This is very true. My mother spent her whole life in more conservative, traditional churches and decided late in life that she wanted "more" out of church, so she started attending a Pentecostal church. Now she feels like, if she isn't feeling electric shocks through her body on a regular basis, that God isn't with her or speaking to her. It's extremely sad to me. God is with us ALL the time, and speaks through His Word, our prayer time, our own hearts, other people, a million subtle ways, like you said. Jesus Himself said that it's an alduterous generation that looks for a sign... to me, that says "aren't I enough for you?" People who are always looking for that next emotional high (and labeling it "spiritual" of course) are always going to be left wanting, because the Christian life is worked out through steady consistencies, not repeated adrenaline rushes. People who need "proof" via physical or emotional manifestations will always be left frustrated, because the only proof you need should be God's Word.

*Back to the Bible-- The Lord said: “Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you."

It's not based on what you feel, it's based on you accepting
the Word of God as truth.

I've said it a lot on here, one would be hard pressed to find scripture
that tells you to follow your feelings and or trust your feelings. There's lots
of scripture about following the LORD, trusting Him, upholding His Word,
relying on the Lord etc.

I have tried and tried and tried to be a good Christian but it seems like God just doesn't want me is that possible?

Someone said once that the standard of God is not good it is perfect, so since it is perfect we must always try to be perfect

Matthew 5:48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Matthew 23:12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

But should I consider myself to be perfect? it is quite the reverse, I should not consider myself at any time to be perfect because when I do that then I stop to try to be perfect though I can never be perfect at least in my eyes.
But if I happen to be perfect let another say that to myself and not me and also I should run away from that exaltation when someone says it to me, to not eat it.

For that reason, I like to say a small wisdom, I should not mingle the words good christians and better christians with the word perfect christians, because the perfect christian in his own eyes considers himself that he reached the perfection while look at what Paul that had great miracles in his life and who had surpassingly great revelations look what he said:

Philippians 3:12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Wow with all the gifts in his life of Paul he considered himself that he did not arrive yet and that is like he had nothing, how much humble was that that he did not exalt himself.

So when you try and try and try that is what it should be, if I bear fruit like Jesus told us, I should not consider myself that I bear anything yet, not of denying but out of the humiliation to the will of the Lord that works in us and through us.

We aren't supposed to white-knuckle our way through faith, we can accomplish nothing by our own efforts. Granted, effort IS required on our part - but our effort is not what saves us. I'm not that great at explaining this, so I'll use a picture to help illustrate my point.

(sorry the picture is so large, couldn't figure out how to shrink it)

Anyways, imagine yourself as the little child. You're putting forth your best effort, you're pushing as hard as you can. But are you really the one causing the lawn mower to move? No, the father is supplying the real power.

Such is the case with our faith. God never said that He doesn't want us to put forth effort, He most certainly does. He simply said, remember who really saves you - it's not yourself. So yes, put forth your best effort in building your relationship with Him. But remember, our Father supplies us with the strength, He gives us what we need to move forward in our walk of faith.

I believe that God needs to bring all of us to a point where we are truly humbled before Him - a proud, stubborn heart and God do not go together. I know that in my life, He had to break me down before He could build me back up. A soft, broken heart is like clay in the Master's hands and is much easier to mold, as opposed to a hardened, stubborn heart that is un-willing to change. Have you reached that breaking point where you truly realized in your heart that you are nothing without our Lord?

Finally, remember that spiritual education without spiritual application leads to spiritual death. What this means is, we can have all the biblical knowledge in the world, we can know all the rules, everything about how a Christian should behave, we can know everything about what Jesus taught....but if we don't apply that to our lives, it's worthless.

I don't want to compare my walk of faith to yours, because I think it's a huge mistake to compare yourself to others in that regard. But personally, I found that as I learned more about Christ and after I invited Him to dwell within me - I began to change. I wasn't so selfish anymore, I began to legitimately care about others and wanting to help people out in whatever way I could. I began to truly hate and despise sin, just as our Father does. I began craving God's Word, to learn more about Him and understanding what He desires for my life, how I can better serve Him and others.

Again, don't think you have to follow in the same foot steps as someone else, because that's not the case. The only footsteps we should follow are Christ's. There's a great prayer book called "His Footsteps are my Pathway", which I reccomend. I can share you some verses from it if you want.

I'll be praying for you, may God be with you in your time of struggle

Your relationship with God is not based in how good you are but in
the fact that you have faith in Christ and so you are in right standing before
God because you are in Christ and not in your own goodness or worthiness.

The devil constantly tries to get us side track by telling us we are not good
enough so that God must reject us...

This is a half truth...

No one in the flesh (living in this world in a body of flesh) can please God.
Only Jesus Christ was perfect in the flesh and so only He was a perfect man
that was totally innocent and so only Christ would be acceptable to God to die
in our place for our sins.

I admit this half of the truth (not being good enough) everyday but the other half is this...
We who are in Christ (have trusted in Christ alone for our salvation and
not our own goodness or worthiness) are TOTALLY RIGHTEOUS BEFORE
GOD AND HAVE THE RIGHT STANDING OF CHRIST BEFORE GOD OUR FATHER.

look at my sig line below....

You need to stop repeating and believing the half truths of the devil and
instead believe the whole truth of what God's words says about you.

Do you not realize that in Christ you have been adopted by God and now
are His very own child and on equal footing before God as Jesus Christ?

Do you not realize that we are in Christ and Christ is in us and so also Christ is in
the Father and the Father is in the Son AND WE ARE ALL ONE?

The devil wants you to believe you have to be good enough to please God
but God is the one who came into the world and died for YOUR SINS so
that you can be pardoned, blessed and be with Him forever.

Why would God die for you, forgive you and then condemn you everyday
for not being good enough when He made you worthy by giving you His
life and love on a cross you deserved.

Stop repeating the devils lies and begin repeating what God says
about you and you will find that the darkness will leave and you will
see that God has never left you or turned away from you but it has been
you who have believed a lie against your loving Heavenly Father and accused Him
of having evil intentions towards you.

Ask God for forgiveness for believing the lies of the devil and begin
to search the word of God and repeat what it says about you.

I want you to say: I am blessed of the Lord, I am a child of God who is my Father in Christ,
God has given me all things in Christ, I can come boldly to my Father in Heaven because Christ
has given me His right standing before God, God is love and He loves me, my God will never turn
His back on me because He will never stop loving me even if I turn my back on Him.

Now pray and ask God to give you His Holy Spirit so that you will know
what God has for you in Christ and you will not continue to believe the lies of the devil.

John 16:13
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

Luke 11:13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

:):):) Phil.3 along with ICor.9:24-27, some of my favorite passages from Paul. In agreement with you. :amen: First and foremost God's will is centered in Christ who came to do his Father's will for purposes centered in his Fathers grace, eg, as you already understand our will is to be in harmony with God's will, no longer having a will of our own hence we must be absolutely sure we are in the Kingdom of God his way keeping in mind the Kingdom is veiled in parabolic language in Matthew chapter 13, etc. :amen: Once we dial this in, we are on our way, his Way. Picking up my router soon, rely on these electrons flying around all over too much. LOL with you. Just ol' old Jack

Do you love Jesus? Are you thankful for what He did for you on the Cross?

If the answer is yes, the answer to your question is yes :)

It took me 5 years of being a Christian to truly get into "serving". Before that it was really Him ministering to me and making my broken self whole, if that makes sense.
