• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I was wandering how other people with AS have dealt with problems that may have arrived with being in college or high school aged youth groups, either at church or at a campus ministry?

I have often had my worst outbursts at campus ministires and youth groups. Too much talk about being super social. It is very hard to be around people my age (late teens, early 20s) when all they want to do is talk about dating and marriage.

How have you learned to best interact with people in these groups? All I know is talking about dating gets very depressing to the point of going crazy.

I am in NZ and there is no such thing as a college here, instead I didnt have any AS ups or downs, if I did I just had them at home away from my friends, one time I threw a meltdown ova how many things I had to do, would u call that a up or down and I would guess that it was the only up or down I had at school, a real mistake too ;)

I am very unhappy at both work and University at the moment, because it is all about socialising.

Okay, with christian stuff, I used to go to Stoneleigh which was a Christian Bible week. It was the only place where I felt truely accepted. I even triedto join in playing football, and they let me even though I couldn't play.

However, I recently left a church I was at, because I felt like I was an odd one out. I didn't fit with my own age, but most of the older people didn't talk to me because they felt that there was a really good youth ministry, and I should have got involved.
