Separate from the judicial reforms, there has been a lot of tit for tat violence recently in the occupied territories among Israeli forces, settlers and Palestinians.

Recent shootings of civilians by Israeli forces have alarmed human rights and advocacy groups, several of which called the events a result of soldiers being given impunity for unlawful violence against Palestinian civilians.

Israeli forces killed 71 Palestinians in the West Bank, including 13 children, between Jan. 1 and March 7, according to the last available figures provided by the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Israeli forces killed 146 Palestinians in the West Bank in 2022, and 75 in 2021. At least 14 Israelis have been killed in attacks by Palestinians so far this year.

How Israeli forces fired repeatedly into a group of civilians

A 3D analysis by The Post shows how troops shot at least 14 times in four seconds while civilians would have been visible, leaving two Palestinians dead.

The Israeli military declined to answer detailed questions about the incident but said that soldiers at the scene said a man had fired at their vehicles before running toward the clinic. An Israeli military official said the matter is “under examination.”

Oh well. I'm not Republican, so I don't really care.

While he may not be politically relevant to you, you seemed to be pooh-poohing the idea that he was politically relevant to anybody.

No, I never implied that. I'm pooh-poohing the idea that he's ever been politically correct. (As if anyone really is ...)

IE: asserting that any ruling they make that's against one's own party's initiatives equates to "judicial activism"
Is that not the fault of the people wanting everything including their religion to be political in nature? When is the last time anyone saw a politician ushering in the Kingdom rather than another worldly crony?

Netanyahu fires defense minister who called for halt to judicial overhaul

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired his defense minister on Sunday, just a day after he called on the embattled premier to halt a controversial plan to overhaul the country’s judiciary.

The proposal to remake Israel’s courts has plunged the nation into crisis, spurring protests in major cities in recent weeks. On Sunday, Netanyahu’s decision to remove Yoav Gallant, a fellow Likud party member, prompted at least 150 demonstrations across Israel, according to police.

Gallant was the first cabinet member to break with Netanyahu over the judicial overhaul, saying in a public address that the controversial plan posed a security threat to Israel. Hundreds of reservists have refused to sign up for duty in protest, and thousands more have threatened to do the same if the bills become law.

In rare public statements, Israel’s military chief of staff, Herzi Halevi, warned that Israel’s relatively small army cannot operate without its reservists. Netanyahu waved aside those concerns and pressed the commanders to crack down on dissenters.

“We must all stand up strongly against those who refuse to serve in the military,” Netanyahu tweeted Sunday night after dismissing Gallant.

Netanyahu did not announce a replacement for Gallant, which on Sunday night left the far-right Bezalel Smotrich as the only active minister in the Defense Ministry. Smotrich, a radical settler from the West Bank who in his youth was interrogated by Israel’s security forces on suspicion of involvement in planning a terrorist attack, said this month that Israel should “wipe out” a Palestinian town and later, on a visit to France, that there was “no such thing” as the Palestinian people.

Well, not every Christian in the U.S. is a "Dispensationalist," so interest in Israel may vary in both kind and intensity.
They did seem very prominent in decades past. Perhaps they had political influence beyond their numbers.
I guess the good news for dispensationalists is they can support any of Israel’s conflicting political parties…left, right, center, and still be counted as “supporting Israel”

But The bad news is they can’t oppose any of those parties either, as that would be opposing Israel, and everyone knows how frightened dispensationalists are of opposing Israel.

Did you just refer to Hagee? .............. oh my! :ahah:

Yes, along with Falwell and the rest of the "Righteous Right" of the 1980s (i.e. 'the Moral Majority'), folks like Hagee have had an occasional ear among presidents and congressmen. How very unfortunate ...
Moving away from home was illuminating for me because I learned that there were Christian sects with histories of antisemitism. Growing up, all I’d ever known was the Hagee wing that fetishized Israel.

Most American evangelical sects, including the Hagee wing, subscribe to theologies that logically foster antisemitism.

These theologies logically produce a very dangerous ambiguity and ambivalence toward modern-day "Jews" in that, on the one hand, they are in some sense "God's chosen people," while on the other hand they MUST remain a blood-guilty race of enemies (Rom. 11:28) who are opposed to all men, and whose metropolis is "Egypt" and "Sodom", and therefore require ongoing, SPECIAL, punishment from God until Revelation 11 is fulfilled.

In contrast to this modern, American evangelical view that today's Jews require a unique, ongoing, SPECIAL punishment from God that the rest of the ethnic groups in the family of Man do not, The Apostle Paul would say there is not one ethnic group (or "race") of men today that is in any sense rejected by God or favored by God over others, but all are freely accepted in Christ and are made One through faith in Him, and all who reject Him are lost.

Israeli protesters return to streets as judicial overhaul stays on ‘pause’

Leaders of Israel’s security establishment have also entered the fray, issuing rare public statements warning that the crisis is a threat to national security. Thousands of reservists have vowed to refuse to report for service if the bills become law, a move that would hobble Israel’s army.

To win his support for the pause, Netanyahu promised Ben Gvir he could form a “national guard” under his authority, according to a letter circulated online by members of the Knesset.

Some military and security officials have warned that the force could end up as Ben Gvir’s own private militia.
On Saturday, Israeli police clashed with protesters at several sites, using water cannons, cavalry and other tactics to disperse thousands of demonstrators.

I never think it's a good idea to get rid of a judicial system or remove it's authority. Countries need it to balance out the power of the legislative branch.
I'm very pro Israel but I'm against this move. But all of this? It's a move to the end. Israel always has been and always will be a key to what will happen in the end and we count down to Christa return.

They have been Gods chosen people and they rejected the messiah and we gentiles are now Gods people if we accept the messiah. It's been opened to everyone. The apostles and Christ all spoke about Israel and it's part in the coming of the Day of the Lord.

Look at all those people opposing Israel. Antisemitism, clearly.

You just affirmed everything I said, in the post where you said I got it totally wrong.

Right here you affirm that you believe the Jews require special punishment from God that no other ethnic group requires in these days.

Exactly as I said.
