Another reason survivors isolate is because they feel they don’t deserve the good things in life, such as healthy friendships or romantic relationships."

That is definitely me.

I understand where you are coming from. If you require more love and support than that which you get from your Heavenly Father and His Son, then ask and it shall be given (in His timing). While you are waiting on Him to provide, enjoy the love and support you get from them which is of far more value.

I learned to stop asking at all and just be content with yourself. Too bad I hated myself because of my abuse till recently (that's 30 years of adulthood) and pretty much thought God just "tolerated" me and didn't really love me either. Your view of God is totally dependent on your father. I finally broke free of that, but, now, I really don't know what to think of God as... I have no image to base him on.

Base Him on the image of His Son who is the express image of Him. If you see Yeshua, you see the Father (not literally, but His character).

God will never abuse you. He will not abandon you. He sees you. He sees your tears. He plans to prosper you and offers you grace for your shortcomings, when you cry and cry, even when you scream at Him. He truly cares for you.
Some hurts in life He takes away and some He walks with you and helps you even if the hurt doesn't go away.
Because of Him I am not alone. I deserve to be alone, but I know He won't leave me. He Loves Me. He Loves You.
