  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm preparing to teach an adult Sunday school class in a few weeks about Islam.
I'm still doing research. Is there anyone here who has been involved in outreach to Muslims? I'd love to talk to you if you have.
I wish you luck but for myself I would stay away from
Islam, there not normal. I would say do not go where
angels fear to tread. "All that the father has given to
me shall come to me and I shall raise them at the last
day.

Why would you want to teach them about Islam? Teach them about Christ, His person and work and they will have no problems with Islam either as a temptation or in order to witness to Muslims. If they are firmly grounded in Him they have everything they need.

There is a good little book, "Understanding the Koran" by Mateen Elass. It is a Christian guide to the koran and their point of view. A former muslim friend of mine works to minister to muslims. He says to stress the teachings of Jesus. He is recognized as one of their greatest prophets, yet they know little of His teachings.

"Islam and America" by George Braswell, Jr. is not a bad book. Dude came to my church, did lessons from the book. I came in after already having had both secular and church-sponsored religious studies classes, and it seemed fairly accurate to me.

I can tell you that they are not interested. However, bless you in your endeavor. Jesus commands to go out into all the world preaching the Gospel and making disciples of all nations. Just because it may be close to impossible, doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.

I think you're looking to better understand their beliefs in order to relate to them better. There are plenty of books about Islam, as has been pointed out here already.

God Bless!
