Isis is apparently for hire now. Turkey one of our "US friends" is hiring Isis to fight Christians. How are we as a Christian nation funding this. Its discussing to see Churches being targeted.

President of Turkey and President of Azeribajian are leading this effort trying to get rid of Christianity.

Are you sure the target is "Christians" rather than "Armenians"?

The Turks are rather resistant to admitting their 100-year-old genocide of the Armenians. Yes Armenians are mostly Christian, but is that the reason for the hostility? (Back then they used Kurds as allies, but since then they've tried to suppress or diminish the Kurds, including any Kurdish self-governance in Syria or Iraq. The Kurds are mostly Muslims.)

(BTW, the Hagia Sophia is in a part of Turkey that was never Armenian and the reconversion to a mosque is most likely due to an increasing desecularization of Turkey under Erdogen. This is why it is good to separate religion and government.)

This is sad. When it occurred, the Armenian genocide was *the* issue of the day in the US. Lots of public engagement, outrage, and humanitarian fund raising. The intervening Turkish governments refused to acknowledge the genocide, but the Erdogan government seems to be much worse on this regard.

Kurds are mainly Shia muslim which is another form of Islam. The Turkey who are Sunni went after their own Muslims brethren who are different branch essentially. They believe the are the superior religion.

The only population in Azerbaijan that is Christian happens to be Armenians who live in the Nagorno Kharabakh region. Only reason why the Armenians their want their independence is to avoid dictator leadership whos agenda is to get rid of Christianity. So yes this has absolutely to do with religion nothing else. There is no raw materials or any value in that land..So if you ask the question why? The answer is clear.... They want to get rid of Christianity. Hence the bombing of churches.

I agree, Hagia Sophia is an Greek Orthodox church that was converted into a Mosque even after UNESCO considered that a historical site.

For them they want to see Christianity cleaned off this planet.

Sidenote: Turkey and Azerbajian don't get along with Iran because Iran is Shai. In fact Iran historically has been more accepting of Christianity in that there are over 1 million Christians living in Iran. Please dont mistake religion with political views.

I bring this up as a fact not on political stance on Iran or Turkey.

The Hagia Sophia *was* a Greek Orthodox church. It hasn't been one for hundreds of years. Then it was a mosque. Then it was a "museum" used neither as a church or a mosque. It is from that later condition that it is was recently converted. I disagree with that decision by Turkey.

This is why we Christians need to unity and let our voices be heard. We can't have one man in office sell out our whole religion!

A little too late now for that, that ship has sailed.

So the solution is to give up? We need to stand up and make noise so people hear the voices not just get pushed into silence. Silence will be the death and extermination of Christianity ....

More fun facts if you think this is just about territory:

Here is some evidence... There is not a single Christian church in Azerbajian that remains as Christian Church...

In Baku:

In Ganja.

  • Church of St. Karapet (Middle Ages) - ruin

  • Church of St. John the Baptist (1633) - destroyed

  • Church of the All-Savior (17th century) - destroyed, in its place is a medical college

  • Church of Saint Sargis church (18th century) - destroyed

  • Church of the Holy Mother of God (18th century) - destroyed

  • Church of St. Thaddaeus (18th century - destroyed, in the place of the church is a cinema

  • So go ask yourself why in the world after 30 years would Azeri suddenly want their land back....Answer is simple...its about exterminating Christianity and any other religion that's not Sunni Muslim hence why they want against the Kurds.

Turkey and Azeri think they are the superior religion/race now!!!!

I distinctly remember jumping up and down screaming against going into Syria, same with all Syrian Christians yet not one person on the left had anything but deaf ears to our pleas so don't pull this bull now...

When it was Obama destabilizing an entire region putting Christians at risk in formerly safe environments you all couldn't care less about foreign Christians.

Don't pretend you do now... it rings more hollow than you can even begin to imagine.

You're barking up the wrong tree.

I care about truth and justice, not Christianity.

There are also plenty of different funds where you can contribute to Armenian cause.

Think it is against forum policies to link them , but google is your friend.

Turkey being a NATO country complicates everything... they really need to be removed from NATO, just the fact they were admitted makes NATO meaningless.

Sorry Jonathan not sure if I comprehend. I did not mention anything about providing funds or contributing to any funds. All I stated was facts about war in our current environment
