• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

That's very strange. I've never heard of a church praying with muslims and jews. I don't think that that's a good thing to do, because muslims and jews do not worship the same God that we do. I'm not sure if this church is a particularly liberal one, or if there's something else going on.

I don't know why they do that, but I would recommend against going to that church again if that's what they do.

I can see why that's so stressful for you. It would've freaked me out too back in the day.

Did it have anything to do with 9/11? Various churches, of various religions got together and prayed this weekend and held memorials. They were generic "Dear God" prayers that didn't specify any one type.

That makes a lot more sense. Never thought about that.

And raven, if I had heard something like that back when my OCD was still bad, I probably would've started doubting too.

Intermixed prayers with other religions is wrong. Your church should not be doing that. Islam is a false religion, yes they believe in a creator but it is not the Creator Christians believe in. For one, their god is a god of hate, treachery, deception and evil. The Christian God is a holy God, a God of love, a God of mercy and grace (a word not in the Quran). The most fundamental difference and the difference that Christianity demands is that belief in Jesus as the Son of God and Saviour of mankind. Islam teaches that Jesus was not God but a prophet, did not die on the cross (but rather "swooned" and faked His death), it also teaches that the New Testament was forged by rebellious Jews. Again the religion is a religion of hate, ignorance, deception and intolerance. They reject the true Jesus and therefor the true God, they are lost and on their way to hell, have nothing to do with their so-called god.
