I personally think that touching yourself is not a sin but if you look at porno or imagine people while you are doing it, then that is adultery. Although there are christians that touch and imagine "body parts" and I suppose that's okay....cause if they don't belong to anyone than how can it be a sin?

How can you imagine "body parts" and only those "body parts", and not associate those parts with anyone? masturbation is definitely a sin, because the "masturbator" is committing adultery in his / her mind.

Masturbation is a Sin.

Lust is temptation, lust then gives birth to masturbation, which is a sin.

No Jesus didn’t touch as He was perfect, and without sin,

Since masturbation is a sin, no Jesus didn’t touch.

touching yourself is sin, its unclean and is a sinful pleasure:

11For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. 12And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with self-control, right conduct, and devotion to God, 13while we look forward to that wonderful event when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. 14He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing what is right.

When you touch , what images are comming into your head? isnt it just like looking at pornography?

God gave us boundaries. The Bible specifies this boundary as heterosexual marriage. When we exercise our sexuality outside of that boundary, we develop patterns of thought and behavior that ensnare and cripple our wills. We find that we can no longer say no - sin quickly enslaves the person who indulges it.

Jewish law clearly prohibits masturbation. This law is derived from the story of Onan (Gen. 38:8-10), who practiced coitus interruptus as a means of birth control to avoid fathering a child for his deceased brother. G-d killed Onan for this sin. Although Onan's act was not truly masturbation, Jewish law takes a very broad view of the acts prohibited by this passage, and forbids any act of ha-sh'cha'tat zerah (destruction of the seed), that is, [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] outside of the vagina. In fact, the prohibition is so strict that one passage in the Talmud states, "in the case of a man, the hand that reaches below the navel should be chopped off." (Niddah 13a)

well this is a popular and frequently asked question for congregation members to ask their pastors;)

My honest answer would be yes and no. Are you married? If yes are you only thinking about your wife when you do it? Is it something you do everyday? Is it something you do more then having relationships with your wife?

as for the question about Jesus...of course he DID NOT! Remember he was God with a lot more self control and restraint then we have. Besides he had much much much more important things to do.

Now let me ask you another question? Do you think it's a sin? If you asked the question, you might already know the answer. If you are not sure wether it is, then maybe it is a sin. Anything that takes the place of God in your life is a sin. But I'm not going to hit you over the head with a hammer. WE all sin and miss the mark. We all have strugles that we deal with our entire lives. Be it touching yourself, lying, stealing, swearing, drinking. It's so easy for us to point our fingers and say that somebody who masterbates is a sinner...then we return to our drinking, our smoking, our swearing, our hurtful angry thoughts. We all struggle with one thing or another. If it is a problem..then you need to turn it over to the only one who can help you with it...ALMIGHTY GOD!

Wow, that seems a little harsh. But it kind of explains why Hebrew is written from right to left instead of left to right. ;) :D :D

Just kidding Torah. :)

Yeah, right. ;)
Sounds like some pretty creative justification going on here.

The thing that I find amusing about this thread is the number of times I read someone say something along the lines of "in a moment of weakness..." AS IF we are ever strong enough or pure enough for God. To say, "in a moment of weakness..." would imply that one lives without sin MOST of the time....Hard as we may try, what we can hope for are those "moments of strength". The other 99 44/100th percent of the time we just have to be thankful for the blood of Jesus, His sacrifice for our sins (trivial or major), and for the Father's good GRACE that we filthy creatures are allowed to exist at all.

"God could make children from stones if He choose"...it's AMAZING that He, the Holiest of Holies, would chose to LOVE ME.

Another thought here...

How many people (please, no show of hands necessary) have, at some point have asked God to help you stop masturbating?

Now, how many of you have asked God to help you START masturbating?

I think each person is capable of drawing his/her own conclusions on this matter.

Is masturbation a sin? Well, I was led to believe in the hyper-legalistic church I was nurtured in that sin is a synonym (or sinonym) for fun. If it is fun it must be a sin. That means sports, movies, dances, parties, and the subject at hand*.

*(no pun intended)
