The only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit which means rejecting Jesus as one's savior. I know there are other interpretations of this verse but this is the version that makes the most sense to me.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi there..First of all let me say that taking the Lord's name in vain is not blasphemy.
And others have said as much here before me. I just want to add a bit..In God's eyes, there is not one sin greater than the other, except for the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
To swear, to take His name in vain, is a manifestation of the flesh, and that is what gets us into so much trouble
..When we become saved, sweetie, it isn't tsomething that happens on the outside, but rather on the inside. It takes sometimes years and years to clean up our "earth suit" (flesh). But, as long as you are trying and learning more of God's Word, then you are become more like Him every day!

It's a sin, but Christ died for our sins.
Meaning: Sin is any violation of God's law, which hangs on love for God and neighbour as oneself. Blasphemy is an example of this, as are other sins like murder or adultery or theft and so on. For an unsaved person, God keeps a record of the sins they commit in their life, and when judgement day arrives, they're in trouble. For the Christian, Christ instead receives the judgement due you, in the form of his death on the cross, while you are credited Christ's perfect obedience to God's law. This is called justification, and St Paul says we get it by faith and not by our own works of the law - ie., not by our own obedience, but relying on Christ's obedience credited to you.
God doesn't let sin off the hook. It's simply a matter of where he will execute judgement for it. It either falls on you, or on Jesus instead. It falls on Jesus if you trust him for your justification before God. This does not depend on how sorry you are, how sincere you are, or so on. It is Christ's goodness on your behalf that you are to rely on. You don't put your faith in the quality or sincerity of your Christianity to save you, but in the quality of Jesus.
Only God is good enough for God.
Jesus was God-incarnate, and kept God's law.
Will you trust in Jesus' fulfilment of God's demands on your behalf?
