  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I totally agree with you on this statement particular "Some pastors have a very courteous practice: If they want to talk about someone else's problems, they ask the person for permission beforehand -- and accept the answer."

I am in total agreement :)

Eek, on youth night? It reminds me of things that happened during the Shepherding movement. People pressed others into open honesty and confession of sins, and raved about how healing it was to get their feelings out. But then as you can imagine, the exposure also damaged lives.

Often tears are about relief, not having to shoulder one's guilt and fear when sharing it with others. But confrontation, unless it is over a crime, can do a lot of damage and break the level of trust in the fellowship.

Some pastors have a very courteous practice: If they want to talk about someone else's problems, they ask the person for permission beforehand -- and accept the answer.

I have a feeling that what you walked in on was "popcorn" prophecy (one here, one there around the room)
My thought as well.

OP, churches with a confessional or credal background often have certain things coded in as their basic principles. For instance in my church this would be a violation of a fairly high order, and itself sinful:

Sins receive their aggravations, ... if in public, or in the presence of others, who are thereby likely to be provoked or defiled. Westminster LC 151

Confessions and creeds can help everyone get a stronger hold on the perception of the church eldership and how it might respond.

They have a lot of people attending so who knows. I know I probably will not be back or if I do go back I will tell them to stay away from me and just worship God.

I talked to another pastor in a different state who is a relative of my spouse and he stated the only time this would be appropriate is under 2 circumstances:

a) The actual person being prayed for addressed the church publicly in what is happening in their life.

b) The pastor/minister asked for permission with the said person and obtained that permission prior to praying publicly in the church for them.

He mentioned under these circumstances only would it be appropriate to pray out loud with that said members concerns to the congregation.

This particular church I went to did not do that because he said to member right before the prayer this statement "I do not mean to put you on blast...." then he started praying for her bringing out information that I felt was too private.

The pastor was on a power trip. I've seen this tactic used in churches, especially those churches that are more fundamentalist, and each and every time it was a means for the pastor to exert dominance over not just those people he was attacking, but every member of that congregation. In effect, he told the entire congregation, "Don't oppose or contradict me or I'll expose your 'dirty laundry' to everybody."

hese 3 Videos really opened up my eyes completely:

Hello….I am spreading this message to everyone. I hope this will plant seeds in your life. I have been a victim of trusting people too much and being hurt L But my heart for GOD is REAL. Don’t be a knock off God wants the REAL DEAL!!!!!! Worship him at all times not just on SUNDAY. Please share this email with as many people as you can so they can be the REAL DEAL!!!!! The churches I have been appear to be knock offs.

Jesus has risen we have to all be true to ourselves are we really living our life for Jesus or do we just believe he exists. Are you religious or spiritual? These 3 videos are VERY INSPIRING and allow us to truly see into ourselves. Enjoy!!!!! I loved them J GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!!!!

I was unable to post the links in here. If you go to you tube and in the search bar put in: The Answer to are Church People Fakeness (watch that video) then type in The Answer to are Church People Fakeness part 2 (watch that video) and then type in The Answer to Church Perople Fakeness part 3. Trust me they are worth watching. These videos helps people hold onto to their faith with God while dealing with the enemy.

This is why I cannot trust anybody. Unfortunately the damage has been done. Mine's was not dirty laundry it was stuff I told him that was happening in my life that was suppose to be confidential. I will never tell anyone "man" anything anymore but only trust GOD.:o

Hey Billy,

Thanks for the advice!!!! I am not trusting anyone anymore but GOD. I have been hurt too bad to trust anyone. The only thing I can do is be anonymous and maybe call a christian line and ask for prayer or help. They will not know who I am. That is all I am willing to do. At this point I am just going to go to bible study from this day forward. I just cannot get caught up in all the gossip, back stabbing, fakeness that goes on in church. I just cannot do it. I love GOD too much to be around that madeness!

I am suprised I have not received any response on this thread yet to the videos. I do not know if the title :the answer to are church people fake" turned people away from watching it or what. Basically the purpose of the videos is to let you know that church is what you make out of it and as long as you are there for GOD you will survive. It also teaches you the difference between spiritual and religious people. The videos DO NOT speak negatively upon church whatsoever. As a christian I would never spread anything negative against Christianity or churches. I see that I had a lot of views but no responses and I was hoping to get feedback from someone on there thoughts on the videos. I found the videos to be instrumental in my faith with GOD.
