UK decides that nurses can refuse to treat "racists".

I mean....the hippocratic oath is actually a pretty good oath in my opinion. It's been an ethical guide for a long time.

Is it actually gone in the UK?

"...perceived as racist..."

So no, it is not true. You don't have to be a racist to be denied medical treatment you only have to be perceived as racist. No judge. No jury. Only an executioner.

This is sickening. First off, I am a brown man, so hopefully others do not judge me when I say this: Some folks may have mental health problems, or may be under severe stress, so if someone says a racist comment in a hospital while receiving care, that should not be grounds for refusing treatment.

I would never say racist stuff, but some folks may be from a part of the UK that could be more racist, so one can not cancel care for someone who grew up in a more racist region of the UK.

As of 2014, both the Yorkshire region and the Southwest were the most racist:

I don't think anyone should be denied treatment. They have a national healthcare system....and it's being wielded against them.

I'm sure there's some racism in the UK. It seems callous though....this is a punishment exceeding the crime.

Again...I'm sure it exists, I doubt the UK is very racist though.

I'm sure this goes along with the racist ideology that only white people are racist.

Yeah if they're on that nonsense then it's basically just denying white people the ability to get medical care.

A downside of a national healthcare system.

Yeah, that's what I am saying. No one should be denied treatment. The UK has gone totally woke.

Everything is racist today especially if you are white. I guess the only people who will receive treatment in the UK are people with skin color rather than white or virtuous signalers. I'll remember to bash white people in front of my nurse if I'm in the UK. Yet we have foreigners in these forums worried about our politics when they should be worried about their own.

A patient has the right to refuse care, where I am, in Massachusetts which is not in the UK.

And receiving care includes being respectful and cooperative. Violence and disrespect will not be tolerated at at least one location where medical care is given, here.

So, in case a patient treats a care worker in a cruel and hateful way, this is a crime and it is refusing to cooperate with the care offered to the patient.

So, the worker has no need to "refuse" to treat the person. The patient is breaking the law plus refusing to cooperate with care.

It would be quite hard to perceive someone is a racist unless he or she is acting and speaking in a cruel and illegal way which is racist.

Of course, any rule can be done the wrong way by wrong people. So, if a care worker refuses to care for someone, this needs to be reviewed.

Years ago, when my father was going through rehab for a hip replacement, he took exception to being told he had to stay up longer before returning to bed. This was part of his physical therapy. My father wasn't a racist but he did have a temper. He managed to keep it in check in the public until his later years, then it started to leak through. He used foul languages in front of the nurses and came close to but didn't apply the invectives to the nurses themselves.

The nurses politely let him know they weren't going to put up with that sort of language, and I agreed with them. I then reminded my father than had I cursed a woman, he would have popped me one. That was something he never tolerated. My reminder wasn't just for him; I wanted the nurses to know he didn't used to be that way.

The nurses happened to be of a different race, My father's anger was not due to their race. Growing up, I was on the receiving end of worse, though he rarely used foul language. Had this been in the UK, the nurses could have labeled my father a racist and refused to treat him.

Yup, it would be that way if woke culture got their way.

Or I could carry my birth certificate and label myself Asian but even Asians in the USA don't get a lot of love that other races get, maybe because they are successful.
