  1. Welcome to Christian Forums, a forum to discuss Christianity in a friendly surrounding.

Your voice is missing! You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.

We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

  2. The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Okay, so I keep thinking of this same person over and over again. She cut my hair yesterday and didn't do anything wrong at all- she wiped a drop of water off my forehead while she was cutting my hair- but my brain keeps replaying it and I can't make it stop! Then I feel guilty for thinking of her! How do I stop??

Completely normal for OCD...I used to go through the same thing. Don't worry. Let the thought come in and go out...don't try to rid your mind of it or it will continue to re-occur. The key is not to stress over it even if the thought pops into your head 1000 times. Allow the Lord Jesus Christ to "handle" the problem for you...just ask him! Have faith that he will and it will happen. He was able to take my OCD, with terrible re-occurring thoughts that paralyzed me years ago, and eased my mind to the point that I could continue living a normal life. By putting my faith in God, not just by saying "I have faith in God that I will be strong with him", but saying something as simple as "Lord, can you please ease my mind by "handling" these strange or funny thoughts that I keep having". The Lord will help you with anything that is out of your control. God Bless you!

Any thought that is intrusive, i.e. not your own thought, continual thoughts, are generally caused by Satan. These thoughts are generally bringing up something negative about a situation or person. The way to stop this happening is to do two things:

Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

    A) Submit to God, i.e. if it is a sinful thought, wash your mind according to the word of God. Keep your mind clean.
    B) Resist the devil, KEEP your mind clean, free of the thought, actively force the thought out of your mind. Actively fight the thought, don't listen to it.

As an example of this, I was at work tonight working late. I never use pornography out of respect for my wife. However because I was alone in front of the computer, a thought kept entering my mind, "Why don't you use porn, it won't hurt any one". It was a persistent thought, kept coming. So what did I do? I resisted the thought saying "The word of God tells me 'should we continue to sin that grace may abound?' the answer being by 'no means'.". I resisted Satans attack on my mind by the word of God. And did not give into the desire. Satan left, and the thought stopped.

If you lack peace, say "the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace", "I will have peace".

It is a matter of applying the word of God to your situation. If you feel judgment, or hate, you fight the feeling until you feel God's love.

You replace your feeling with Gods.

You did exactly what James 4:7 says,"Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you" NKJV.

Just another example of Gods word actually proving that it works. Thanks for sharing and God Bless!

I have noticed trying to suppress an intrusive thought actually makes tge thought repeat and more frequent. To ignore the thought or just let the thought pass and pray to God seemed to work for me. I have noticed that intrusive thoughts are anxiety based. To try and fight or supress the anxiety will cause more anxiety.

Thank you all for the advice and prayers. :) I hate it when I have a OCD like day. >.< I'm usually not that way, but sometimes a person will get stuck in my head and I feel so guilty when that happens!
