• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Is this lieing?

Woo! You are learning, grasshopper :p

Just deal with that its/it's thing you've got going on sometimes and you'll be well on the way to fully-fledged pedantry ;) Welcome to the club!

I've been learning off you!! You're a bad, bad influence :D

I feel quite dirty actually. I was going to delete the post, but I couldn't think of anything to put in it's place that hadn't already been said ^_^

It's nothing to be ashamed of! Of course, you may lose a few friends, be rejected by your family, be made mysteriously redundant, &c., but think what Jesus had to put up with!

Some of the "You must be 18 years old or older" statements also have an "Or have your parents' permission" clause.

If that's the case, then you're not. If that's not the case then, yeah, you're lying to random people who may be half a world away, but being honest with your parents. So, in the big scheme of things...

Play on.

Normally it says tick this box if you have you read and understood the terms and conditions... For the people who say you shouldn't lie, i assume you always read the ToCs before ticking the box? No? Oh dear.

 I never read the toc's ^_^

I've always wondered about the possibility of Microsoft or Apple putting something in their terms of service stating:

"You also agree that all your worldly possessions will become the sole property of <company name>." I wonder if they could legally get away with it? :p

On a game i play on the terms and agreements it says Only 18 years or older can accept this i am under 18. My parents have said i can play so if i click it is that lieing?
If it is worded in such a way that a parent can accept the terms and allow another to play then fine (like you have it worded). If it is worded in a way that indicates that you cannot play unless you are 18 then it is a lie.

Incidentally, it's a legal agreement so that the people running the site can cover their own arses. Basically the idea is that if you sue them because you were horribly disturbed by the content of their site, they can point to the terms and conditions and say that you ticked the box so it's not their fault because they warned you. The worst that can happen is that you lose your opportunity to sue the site. Other than that, no one suffers from your little lie.

I love the way UK english words get through the filter. It's all a load of bollocks really.

Look at the terms closely. Generally it says "under 18 or with the permission of a parent or guardian." So usually as long as the parents ok it you can go ahead and play the game.
It says
Acceptance of agreement. This Agreement can be accepted only by an adult 18 years or older. By clicking the accept button, you affirm that you are 18 years old and you are accepting this agreement on your own behalf or on behalf of your minor child (under 18) So do i have to get someone over 18 to click the button every time i play?
