But one needs financial aide while IN college, not after.
Curious - what prevented you from writing something like "you are right about the statistics, I am just angry and bitter."?

It was meant to be sarcastic.
But, based on after graduation student debt grads must not make very much money. Defaults are rising on over $1Trillion in debt.

A few years ago, the dean of the business school temporarily took over as provost. He tried to do this big workload assessment, to try to trim programs that were not 'pulling their weight' - much like, I suppose, a business leader would do when taking over a business. Wanted to know faculty workloads, faculty-student ratios, cost-benefit analyses for each program. We discovered that, most ironically, the business school and some of the engineering programs were huge money pits with small enrollments (these were the chem engineering and electrical engineering programs - our mechanical, civil, and computer engineering programs have always had huge enrollments) and too many faculty. The acting provost buried the report, and decided not to cut any programs.

So yes, we agree on 1 thing :)

My main objection is student loans/debt, and the immaturity of students. I recommend limiting admissions to those 25 and older who have shown they are financially responsible i.e. saved a good chunk for college costs. A few years of experience in the workplace is a good thing seeing as how they'll never get their hands dirty again after graduation.

And standardized tests are poor ways to measure such things, as is clear.

Even the standardized IQ test are tailored for eggheads. I was surprised I scored so high (twice). What is needed is practical knowledge tests. It would show just how ignorant people actually are (kinda like the Jay Leno street quizzes). A graduate of the Air Force Academy once asked me if porcupines shoot their quills (my 35 year old daughter asked me that as well). These are things we need to know. ^_^

Right... Of course..

Interestingly, I saw a study a few years ago about which sorts of grads are most likely to default - and it was those graduates that went on to high-paying professions (doctor, lawyer, etc.), whereas those earning the least amount of money (those with degrees in things like sociology) had the lowest rates of default. That is "Christian" America for you.

Well then perhaps you could have written that instead of your usual cryptic nonsense.

I am shocked, in fact - which lends credence to my quip about such tests having little value.

I hear you - a retired religious engineer that boasts of having super-intelligence once claimed that 'the gut' sends impulses directly to the larynx to make vocalizations, so yeah, people are not as smart as they seem to think.

The rebellion of Lucifer and the subsequent destruction on the earth resulting in 'plate tectonics';.

More evidence of the worthlessness of standardized tests.

You can't teach them anything spiritual. They have closed minds... It takes an open mind to learn anything, be it spiritual or scientific.....

Most ironically projective.

And re: the OP and people not having sufficient knowledge:

"[re: alleles] NEVER has a new gene or alleles been produced, merely the sequence of what already existed copied in a new format, almost always consisting of loss of function and weakening of the overall viability.

We are not talking reproduction, where genes from different creatures are brought together to produce a multitude of variation, but mutation of what already exists within a creatures genome."

Have Jay Leno ask people in the street about this. o_O

Why? Are people in the street making such claims and insisting that such claims are totally true and correct, regardless of what anyone explains to them?

Just to test general awareness of the nuts and bolts of evolution.

Stay tuned. Your pals in the lab coats may eventually prove it true. Unless they (and you) believe that all is known that can be known about human anatomy. ;)

Human anatomy? Yes, I do believe that we know pretty much all there is to know about human anatomy. We KNOW how neurons operate. We KNOW the directionalality of impulses in them. We KNOW the points of connection between neurons and what they innervate. We KNOW that motor impulses do NOT come from the gut.

Perhaps you and your pals could exhibit even fake humility now and then and admit that you do NOT, in fact, know as much as you think you do.
