Is This A Christian Board???

It is really sad when someone that call themselves christian behave not according to Christ's words of love. Being an evangelical, quite "fundamentalist", christian myself, I've also had "trouble" with certain forum-users here at CF. I think that it's okay to have strong opinions as long as you don't harrass others and discuss in a polite manner. Being a christian "fundamentalist", should really mean that you're a Christ-love fundamentalist.

We could stop. ... when we run into a snag and pray together. There is a saying that "families that pray together stay together. Well, we are all part of the family of God, we do not do that here.
Jesus commanded us to love one another. Nowhere in scripture did he say we should judge one another.
Lot of that judging goes on around here. Not enough loven and surely not enough praying.

So catlover, you tell me, do you think it is a Christian Forum?

I have also seen a lot of questionable behaviour from self-proclaimed Christians on the forums. But what saddens me most is that I've encountered the most intolerance and downright nastiness from "Christians" I work with and even people in my own church. I've seen people make fun of others during a worship service. And lots of people ignoring others at church. How can Christians behave this way?

Depends on what one considers "Christian." Frankly, in large part CF is fundamentalist evangelical - a small subset of the more than 1.5 billion Christians in the world.

Scripture is called for here, I believe:

MT 7:13 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. [14] But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

I agree with this, but how do you get people to stop judging - or if not that (as it's impossible with so many people posting) how do you get people to stop posting their personal judgments of who is or is not Christian. It's ridiculous.

Well, what do you think would happen if you answer their personal judgement by telling them you love them anyway and post a prayer blessing for them. You know actually post a prayer on line?
Don't you think God would honor that by softening their hearts?

Jesus says when someone insults you, you should give them a blessing in return, didn't he?

What I don't understand, is if you believe the verses you quoted, why do you now turn around and mumble and grumble about the reviling, persecution and cursing that occurs?

Is it truly a surprise that there are "good" Christians and "bad" Christians?

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. 2Cor.5:10

Sometimes I wonder, but unfortunately it is against the rules to acuse individuals or groups of not being christian even if it is painfully evident that they are not.

All you can do is to accept that there are many false teachers and blatantly heretical and antichristian beliefs on this board and try to continue shining the light of Christ in the present darkness.

one thing to take into consideration is that even though people are Christian, it doesnt necessarily mean they are Christ like. we are humans, and we are sinful by nature. this means that all the pettiness and sarcasm thats being discussed is in our nature. we strive to do better; to be patient and mild, but invariably everybody (good Christian, bad Christian, non Christian) drops the ball. i think the true measure of a "good" Christian is what you do after you realized you dropped that proverbial ball.. are you capable of and willing to swallow your pride and admitting to your mistake? are you capable of and willing to take the high road? are you capable of and willing to agree to disagree? think about this the next time you find yerself stuck in one of those heated debates that get out of hand: are you representing Gods word, and all things spiritual, or are you lending credence to the pettiness of the secular world? it takes two to tango, and satan wants you to dance. dont buy into it. may God bless you all!

I guess I think this place is just like the world, it has:

• people in it who do not claim to be Christians and act accordingly,
• people who do claim to be Christians and act accordingly,
• people who do not claim to be Christians who act more like Christians than some Christians, and
• people who claim to be Christians who act like heathen.

So as christians, we should obey these words, and that should prohibit us from making fun of others, look down on them, or hurt them in any other way, ... except through lovingly and politely present to them the Word of God (which may sometimes hurt).

That's fine for you, although you do not display a Catholic icon, but I do not agree with much of what the early church fathers (think Augustine onward) decided is truth. Certainly on a "Christian" forum, which supposedly welcomes equally all denominations of Christianity, I should not be told that I am wrong if I don't agree.

Your final paragraph which I've quoted above is truth to me. Jesus = TRUTH

Why would it be a Catholic icon, it could also be an Orthodox icon, or simply a cross. The RCC does not have a monopoly on the Apostolic and Antenicene Fathers. I agree with much of your statement, with the exception of St. Augustine, which I feel was too far removed from the source (fourth and fifth hand knowledge).
Beyond the Apostles, I accept those men who were taught directly from the Apostolic Fathers, but not much beyond that point.
By the time of the Council of Nicea, the corruption had gone too far.

I suppose letting go of pride would make this forum more tolerable and Christ-like.
