Is there something wrong with listening to music that isn't under a christian label?

What goes in Comes out....

What you put in ,,you put out..

What other way can I say this..??

If you fill your mind with trash you will become trash.

I choose to put as much good in as possible.

That doesn't make me/u boring or not into the fun things..
Just select/ screen the lyrics..

Most of all ... Just think that Jesus is hanging out with you in your car and you are listening to XYZ song. Would you play "XYZ" for your best friend Jesus?

Contrary to popular belief, most secular music is not full of slander. Also, most Christian music is not blatant worship. Like the Newsboys, persay. They are one of the most respected CCM bands, and some/most of their songs are not worship. This does not mean that they are "evil" or "bad" in the least. Other bands like pedro the lion and project 86 do not sing worship songs, but the lyrics contain messages that challenge Christians to think and to ponder about their faith and how they're living their lives.

Music that is not under a Christian label should not be treated like scum or something inferior to Christian music. Yes, some odd minds create some secular music that no body should fill their minds with, but one should not avoid secular music like the plague.

Just my 2 cents, my favorite Christian music (Newsboys, Smalltown Poets, and more) is not "worship" music. I like the clever wordplay that triggers thought. It's uplifting. I do like some secular, in fact, much of classical music is not Christian music. Not to say that all classical is secular, but there's a vast collection of it that doesn't have a bit to do with Christianity persay. Wow, to discount such a collection of music is mindboggling.

I prefer secular instrumental jazz, rock, electronic, funk, surf, classical, etc.

I might get a Christian CD one of these days (Tommy Walker has some good ones at my church, Christian Assembly)
When there I listen to music with lyrics, I avoid lyrics that are contrary to Christianity, or are annoying/lame. So I've decided to trade in Beck- Midnight Vultures at the Hollywood Amoeba Records-

I do not see how music without vocals can be portrayed as secular. If things are secular because they are not made by Christian people, then your car, your home, and several things in your home (such as the computer through which you view this message) are "secular."

I think maybe he meant the music was written without the idea of glorifying God in mind. There are many musicians who are not Christians and did not write the music for any reason other than to be writing the music. Sure cars, computers and such are secular. They are material things of this world. They can be used in a ministry and so can secular music, but they were not originally intended as such. Oh boy, that's a difficult thing to explain. bah.

You will find Christians artists who are on secular labels doing real ministry!

I am not under a Christian label. I am under a secular label and that is the way it should be!! Why preach to the saved? The church can do that....

Always ask your self when your listening to music, "Would Jesus enjoy this"?

Christian music is slowly becoming just another business and we need to stop it before things really get bad
how would you stop it? and what are you going to stop?
Sorry but you don't make sense.

There is no such thing as Christian music.

And he does make sense. Bands, like zoegirl, persay, are trying oh so hard to imitate MTV bands, to the point of having backup dancers on the stage. Plusone was/is trying to be a typical boy band. CCM is becoming a mite corrupt.

agreeee...

as Psalms 40:1-3 : God put a NEW SONG to praise our GOD.

new song to praise God

not imitating (which is not NEW) MTV band/singer and sing about themself. even the word "Jesus" not very much (maybe never) appear in their lyric. how sad.

but what can you say, IT SALES, MAN!!!!!! MONEY!MONEY!MONEY!

CHRISTian is a disciple of Jesus Christ! If it's not about the Lord Jesus Christ
it is NOT CHRISTian!

so don't call yourself Contemporary Christian Music...
(this is for CCM bands and singers)
