I'm going to start with a fundamental fact: Jesus' death was the sacrifice for all sin. Obviously it wasn't for sin committed up to that time, but sin for all time. So there is forgiveness for your sin -- all of it.

I agree with everything you said except your second sentence. Jesus was a propitiation for all sins. Propitiation means all things that came before and all things that will come after. All sins were forgiven.
I think he meant the same thing as you said.

You are correct. I should have put in "just" in the sentence, so it should read "Obviously it wasn't just for sin committed up to that time, but sin for all time."

Now I agree with all of the second sentence.
That's a JUST decision :) .....

Comparision to King David doesn't work for me because I have yet to become His child. Just don't know how to do that after doing what I did. I put someone/something as more important than God (now-husband) when God clearly said NO. Similar to the Rich Young Ruler. I should have forsaken all and followed Jesus.

Tell God that you want to become his child, that you want his grace and forgiveness, and accept that Jesus has died for YOU so that you are not guilty of any sins committed in the past, present, and future. Be baptized as an outward display of your dying to your old self and your resurrection into a new life.

You don't have to forsake anything and you should accept your husband as your partner in Christ. Try to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, but do NOT expect perfection. God will love you as he loves all his children and will never disinherit you. Ever.

Here's something I've found helpful: when beset by doubts and accusations, don't continue to think about them and wonder about their veracity. Instead, focus on God alone by singing hymns, reading the bible, praying, listening to a spiritual teaching, etc. If you focus is all on God, the enemy can't communicate to you as well. God will let you know what you need to change in your life. I hope this helps, sister.

^^ Yes this is so true! I have been struggling with loneliness and sadness, a broken heart, But God hears and understands and brings peace and healing, the key is to keep our minds stayed upon Him and praise and worship Him etc., because the enemy is seeking to destroy us, but we must rebuke that and submit to God completely, and then the enemy will flee! :)

Hi, Kim :) I am Bill; God bless you and your husband :)

Jesus says, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me." (in Luke 9:23)

So, if you desire to follow Jesus, He guarantees that you may. Jesus knows if you care. We are not perfect. If we get forgiven, though, now God wants us also to forgive generously, and Jesus says that the one who is forgiven much will love much :)

Luke 7:41-43

And I offer that our cross includes lovingly forgiving like Jesus has loved and forgiven us, while He was on the cross. Our cross is not only certain troubles and problems.

Plus, you and your husband can help each other to truly serve Jesus. This is possible with God.

So, it can be wise to not dwell on how you have failed, since this is not about all which is possible with God.

When Christ first calls us to follow Him, is there forgiveness for someone who put a worldly desire first? In other words, can I follow Him now?

Does He forgive those who put their hand to the plow and look back at what would be left behind (by accident!)?

Is there forgiveness for those who do not forsake all to follow Him when He calls?

I am referring to Luke 9:57-62

Yes there is forgiveness. Everyone who followed Jesus fell away and became apostate and faithless. They put their own lives before eternal union with God.

Then Jesus told them, "This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written: "'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.' - Matthew 26:31

If you have fallen away from following Christ, you qualify to follow him!!! This is the qualification the apostles had.

I don't understand the last sentence. Can you be more specific?

Hello Kim,

I will ask you for clarification on one thing you said.

In post 27 on Page 2, when you said “...I have yet to become His child. Just don't know how to do that after doing what I did”, did you mean become His child in a way that is commonly stated, or did you mean taking the specific second step as indicated in John 1:12?

If the former, then obtain whatever peace you can from the statements others have made and will make. If the latter, please send me a personal message, and I will offer more detail; I suggest a private conversation for two reasons:

  1. I would start by asking a few relevant questions (about Scriptural things, not personal); when I have asked questions in the past, people have normally tried to derail the questions rather than answer them; that would cause confusion;
  2. We would be discussing the second step in John 1:12, which most people have been conditioned to not even realise was there; therefore that subject could make them feel uncomfortable.

So I suggest you send me a personal message if it is information about John 1:12 that you are seeking. But only if so.

Either way, if you have not yet become a child of God in your own perception, the way is open. There is no obstruction on God's side to your doing so.

Remember what God revealed in 2 Corinthians 5:17:
Therefore if any man (or woman) be in Christ, he (or she) is a new creature (creation): old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

As I said before, you have nothing to fear. God is not after you with a big stick.
