the words and the definitions of 'circle' and 'square' are just man-made. so God can create any shape that He wants -it doesnt have to fit the rules of shape that man has created...
I think we have to remember that God cannot contradict - contradiction is meaningless.
To contradict is to do nothing at all...
To create a square circle is a meaningless statement as is is a contradiction.
To be omnipotent yet unable to lift a rock is a meaningless statement.
These are all contradictions..

So yes, on one hand God transends man-made definitions of words, but on the other hand, God does not transend all logic and reason.

It disturbes to me to see statements such as "well yes God can sin, but chooses not too"
God cannot sin - sin is an offense against God... it just does't make sense.

Lets not throw out reason here folks ;)

Please note that I was not making that statement - so I do not like to be told I am being meaningless - if you wish to discuss my post being meaningless maybe u should make that point directed at the person who said that, and the rock argument, and all of the others. I personally think that they are stupid and just for the sake of an argument.

And if i was to harm myself i am offending against myself. Sooooo God could do something that isn't God like and so this would mean He was sinning against Himself. lets be honest - it isn't going to happen!! But the point is that this is God's choice. Please read one of the posts earlier on in the thread - if God was never tempted then He wouldn't want us not to be (and I know - yes he was tempted!)

Mr. Tom I don't agree that God can sin. But the truth is when we go to heaven (and I'm talking to both sides of the argument) God isn't going to say "shame on you I can do anything" or "shame on you I can't do everything". No one will lose his or her salvation because of this.

God bless you all

When Jesus said "My God, My God, why have you foresaken me" that was pointing us to Psalm 22 (read the first line) which was customary at the time for people to say the first line of a Psalm to call it to mind to others.

2 Timothy 2:13 states that God cannot deny Himself, i.e. He cannot act outside of His own Nature. He is the Standard of Good; by His very existence, good is defined. Evil is defined by what is not-God.

To state that God can sin it is necessary that there be a standard outside of Himself defining good and evil. If there is a standard outside of His own Nature, then the standard preempts God. There is nothing that preempts Him.

Note that God instructs Moses to tell Pharaoh that "I Am" has sent Moses. His very name is a statement of preeminent existence. There is no attempt at defining Himself by anything.

I believe this can be rather difficult to think through, but it is also important enough to be worth the effort.
