  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is there anyone there?

Yes, I do know you do.

The hospital has just rung and thenophthalmologist, Mr. Ali, has arranged for someone called Leanne, from the eye clinic, to meet me at the hospital entrance and she will take me up - because both me and my husband are in wheelchairs. Parking will NOT be an issue this time, because. B ob is to drop. Me off at the door to the hospital and THEN go and park. I may end up going in on my own hehehehehehehe

Now to explain the problem re this proposed operation

1) There are no guarantees that it will restore Anjelica's vision but hopefully if it does not her vision should then remain as it is at present

2) If she does not have the operation - she will lose what little vision she has

3) There are huge problems as regards the anaesthesia - and I have her permission to say this

When she was being treated with Chemotherapy one of the drugs that was used does have a very nasty side effect - it reacts badly with oxygen !
When you have a general anaesthetic you need oxygen - so there is a problem with this drug interaction and oxygen.
Add into the mix that Anjelica has both lungs affected by fibrosis - so they are by no means as elastic as they should be.
Now re the nasty drug [ bleomycin] and oxygen - the combination of them, while she is under anaesthesia, could lead to respiratory arrest and that is most definitely not wanted - it is irreversible very very swiftly - and if it occurs there's a huge chance that in fact Anjelica would die at that point. There is also the added problem that it is possible for this bad interaction to take place up to 5 days after the operation - so she could survive the anaesthetic but still die because of this oxygen/bleomycin problem.

There is a lot to be considered here - possibly the best solution is that the anaesthetist would decide that Anjelica is not fit for the administration of General anaesthetic and say that he is not prepared to recommend the eye surgery.

I personally think Anjelica has made up her own mind about this - after a huge amount of stress and thought and prayer.

Edited to add - Anjelica has made her decision - backed by her priests

I personally will support her through this - I hope you will keep her in your prayers as I keep her in mine

Today is a bad day . I have t o go for an anaesthetic a ssessment and I don't think I can do it. An anaesthetic is dangerous to me. It is for eye surgery that may or may not work. I don't want it. Everyone is pushing me. I just don't feel I can do this. I don't want a d angerous anaesthetic. Thankyou so much foor the vid Mountain Girl and for the offer to chat. I will contact you via PM.

I'm thinking about you today Anjelica. I'm praying for you too. Hang in there.

Even if I am told they will do it, I don't want it. It IS dangerous, and we KNOW that, but they would most likely advocate taking the risk. I can't do that. I know it sounds stupid to anyone else, but at least I am alive now. I have a feeling my decision has been made whatever is said today, because I don't want the risk.

I don't want pushing. Control issues as you will well understand lol

I edited this after getting better understanding of your situation. I will continue to pray for you. Please keep us all updated.

But the final choice IS yours - and they can't do anything without YOUR consent
very true it must be your decision sorry my response is late
