Forgive me asking, but is there anyone from Assemblies of God on here?![]()
I visited an Assembly of God church 2 weeks ago. I am interested in learning about this denomination. I grew up Catholic, was baptized as a baby, and accepted Jesus as my Savior as an adult. Until recently, I didn't understand what spiritual gifts were, and didn't know how I believed on this issue. I have come to realize that the Holy Spirit does indeed give us each gifts to help in the ministry. But I read a pamphlet at the church that said that everyone has an initial experience of speaking in tongues. (I don't know exactly how it was worded). I have never spoken in tongue. Does that mean that to the AOG church, I am not born again? Or does it mean that I do not have the Holy Spirit living in me? Do I need another baptism?
Thank you![]()

Thank you Dave, yes, I know that I am saved, but what does "Baptism in the Holy Spirit" really mean? I was baptized as a baby in the Catholic church. Does this mean I should be baptized again?
So if I have asked for the Holy Spirit to give me the gift of tongues, and it does not happen, what does this mean? I am sorry if this all seems very simple to you, but I want to make sure that I am understanding exactly what you are saying. Thank you.

'Flavourful!' I like that description of a church. We're certainly all different, bit like 'liquorice allsorts!' But all working together in harmony in the Body of Christ, which is wider than the Assemblies of God and made up of all who are 'one in Christ.'I go to an AOG church, and im quite fond of it. I believe the Spirit is quite strong there. I cant imagine going to a different church, we are so flavorful.![]()
