that ya'll get all of your teachings from and consider to be like scripture or anything? If so, what is the name of her book? Or are her teachings in many books? Do ya'll read any other Christian teacher/preacher's writings from any time period or just hers? Do ya'll think she was a prophet? Do ya'll have female preachers?
thanks

No, her writings are not to considered as scripture... she was inspired by God to instruct the church on doctrine and to warn of events to come.

If so, what is the name of her book? Or are her teachings in many books?
She wrote many books... as a matter of fact, she is the most published female in literary history. During her lifetime she wrote more than 5,000 periodical articles and 40 books.

Do ya'll read any other Christian teacher/preacher's writings from any time period or just hers?
That would, of course, depend on the individual. Many Adventists have read other Adventist authors. Ellen White was not the only one that helped shape the doctrine of the SDA. Men like James White, J.N. Andrews, Joseph Bates, Uriah Smith, among many others. There are great publications today as well but one has to be wary of the apostasy that has crept in to spoil the original doctrinal belief, what we call the pillars and the foundation of our faith.

Do ya'll think she was a prophet? Do ya'll have female preachers?
Some, indeed, do consider her a prophet while others do not. Ellen White herself always just said she was a messenger from God. She never called herself a prophet. Personally, I consider her to have had the gift of prophesy, as she has foretold of what we are to expect in these last days. She was also sent to warn Gods' people about the time in which we are living, just like the prophets of old.

thanks

It is more than one book:

You can find the books and writings at:

Ellen G. White ® Estate: The Official Ellen White ® Web site

Here is the official Adventist statement on the subject from their fundamental beliefs:

18. The Gift of Prophecy:
One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen. G. White . As the Lord's messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested. (Joel 2:28, 29; Acts 2:14-21; Heb. 1:1-3; Rev. 12:17; 19:10.)

Welcome!

Well, so far everyone has given you the answers to most of the questions. I might have missed it, but I didn't see a response to the question regarding female preachers.

The answer is yes, even though it is still quite controversial. Even though the church on the official level, does consider EGW a profit and has made and/or enforced many a doctrine onher writings/teachings, the church at some point decided that women could not be used of God at that level of ministry. This is also in in spite of the fact that during EGW life/ministry time there were also 30+ women who were ordained as preachers, and sometime after one of the wars in Europe women were also ordained.

I believe it comes with the rapid growth in countries that are still extremely patriarchal in their beliefs. They are the majority of membership at this point, and give the most resistance at our General Conference sessions(like a world church business meeting where church doctrines are reviewed and sometimes revised.)

EGW, and Hiram Edison both falls under Acts 2:16-18 which simply means she was not a prophet (prophetess for a woman). She even stated what Elohim said she was a messenger like all of the Apostles except John. Woman in all churches had to fight to be heard as in the SDA Church it is not a problem today and we are rapidly growing in that regards. I have numerous of non-Adventist books in my home. I also have Logos 4 that include religious scholars from all sources.

Also I never read in the Bible that SDA are the remnant that is a prejudice idea that my church should relinquish because it says that a remnant of the seed of Yahweh's finally true Church. If SDA are honest EGW said herself that one out of every twenty SDA will be saved. The Bible states clearly that it have sheep that is not part of the SDA Church or not just only other Protestants and Catholic. It means from all religions they will come and keep His Commandments from all the world and then the end will come. I wish that we would stop teaching that we are better than anyone else. We all must be save one way and that is through truth.

I hope that this answers your question about my faith.

Blessings,
stinsonmarri

>If SDA are honest EGW said herself that one out of every twenty SDA will be saved.

She didn't say that.

She may have used hyperbole when she wrote: "It is a solemn statement that I make to the church, that not one in twenty whose names are registered upon the church books are prepared to close their earthly history, and would be as verily without God and without hope in the world as the common sinner."[16] from Basic Rules of Interpretation--Internal

I don't think that is an exaggeration. If we look at all those who call themselves Christians - whether SDA or any other group - one in twenty would probably be a good number. In some groups it may only be one in 100 and in other groups perhaps the number is a bit better - 1 in 10 or so, but realistically speaking, most of us are not living proper Christian lives as we should and I imagine that number varies constantly.

I agree, however, I think the ratio is much worse. Though I do expect it to improve dramatically once the latter rain begins to be poured out...
