Some single christians have said that we,as christians should not listen to romantic songs. My two questions are. What is wrong with listenting to romantic songs? What is the difference between romantic songs that we hear today and the words in the Song of Solomon? True,we are not supposed to have sex outside of marriage. What is wrong with that Marvin Gaye song,"Let's Get It On",if a husband is singing that song to his wife?
For example,in the Song of Solomon, chapter 7,verses 6-8,a man is saying this to his lover.(King James Version) "How fair and how pleasant art thou,O love, for delights! This thy statue is like a palm tree, and thy breasts to clusters of grapes. I said,I will take hold of the boughs thereof
;now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples."
Now,some words from the song by the Steve Miller Band,"The Joker" are this:
" Your're the cutiest thing that I ever did see
I really love your peaches
wanna shake your tree
lovey dovey, lovey dovey all the time
(wolf whistle)
come on baby
I'll show you a good time"
These two songs are essentially saying the same thing.
My question is.What is the differnce?
