In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Is the thousand years of Revelation chapter 20 symbolic?

"And I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty is its temple, even the Lamb.
And the city had no need of the sun, nor of the moon, that they might shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.
And the nations of those who are saved will walk in the light of it; and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it." (Revelation 21:22-24)

"And it shall be, everyone who is left of all the nations which came up against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles." (Zechariah 14:16).

Temple/Tabernacle - same thing.

It still does not mean the thousand years is not literal. Revelation 20 has those who were martyred (a) for their testimony to Christ; and (b) for their refusal to worship the beast or its image or receive its mark or the number of its name, living and reigning with Christ a thousand years.

Martyred for their testimony to Christ = post-establishment of the Churches of Christ. Martyred for their refusal to worship Mr. Beast, his image, or receive his mark or the number of his name = immediately before the return of Christ.

(b) = It cannot be the same as the entire age in-between the first coming and the return of Christ.

I could be wrong.

If the thousand years of Revelation 20 is symbolic of most of the Church age, the "souls" John saw would include those from the first century, and also those martyred near the time of the Second Coming.

If we have eliminated mortals after the Second Coming of Christ, based on our new understanding of Zechariah 14, and its relationship to Revelation 21,and 22, the Premill doctrine is running out of what it takes to make it work.
No mortals, no Premill doctrine.

You could be right. You could also be partially right and partially wrong. I hope you don't mind me copying all the people who participated in this thread in on this post?

(I hope I haven't left anybody out)

So here's a thought that popped into my mind:

What if Amills and Premills are

(a) Both partially wrong; and
(b) Both partially correct.

God created the current heavens and earth in a day.

No, sorry, God created the current heavens and earth in six days, and rested on the seventh day.

The context of 2 Peter 3:5-13 is:
(a) The creation of the current heavens and the earth; and
(b) It's destruction by fire at the return of Christ; and
(C) A new heavens and a new earth to follow.

In this context, under inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Peter pops in the words:

"But, beloved, let not this one thing be hidden from you, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." (2 Peter 3:8).

In view of this, I ask,

How long will it take for the new heavens and new earth to be ushered in after the return of Christ? Will it take:-

(a) A day? Or
(b) Six days? Or
(C) A period of time symbolised as a thousand years? Or
(d) A literal one-thousand year period, as the Greek word χιλιάς chiliás in Revelation 20 denotes; Or
(e) None of the above (if you answer (e), please tell us how long you believe it will take). Or
(f) I don't know. The scripture does not tell us. Or
(g) My answer is entirely different to all the above. Or
(h) You ask too many questions. Just believe what Peter tells you in 2 Peter 3 and forget about anything else you read in the Revelation. Or
(i) You ask too many questions. It's a thousand literal years. Just take the Greek word χιλιάς chiliás in Revelation 20 at face value.

Very good points listed there

for all eternity after the cross in the New Earth
Is 66:23 "from Sabbath to Sabbath shall all mankind come before Me to worship"
Also in that same text - they do this "from New Moon to New Moon"

Isaiah 66:23 from New Moon to New Moon
and "from Sabbath to Sabbath" -- all mankind comes before God to worship for all eternity after the cross -- in the New Earth.

The new Earth is in Rev 21:1-5 and is after the literal 1000 years mentioned in Rev 20.

So that means that the first creation event (7 day week) and the second creation event (possibly a month) are being memorialized in those two cycles for gathering for worship - by all mankind - in the New Earth.

So option d.

There is this (sorry if it has been said before, I didn't read it all)

Lev 25:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying,
Lev 25:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the LORD.
Lev 25:3 Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof;
Lev 25:4 But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.
Lev 25:5 That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land.
Lev 25:6 And the sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee,
Lev 25:7 And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat.

It is six days, than a one day Sabbath
six years---then a land one year Sabbath
and 6 thousand years than a 1000 year Sabbath (land Sabbath for the whole planet)

Thank you for the Isiah quote. It's very uplifting when we see how the LORD gives us confirmation in both Testaments.

Not sure if I'm following you correctly. Are you saying that the thousand years is both literal, and the beginning of the new heavens and new earth?

Your first sentence ended - after the cross. Did you mean after the return of Christ?

**Edited**

It's OK I got my answer by going back to your first posts in this thread

Thank you. It has been mentioned in this thread earlier, I think, but of course not all agree but it certainly should not be ignored, IMO. The cycles of seven are repeated in the Revelation.

The text itself states "they will rule and reign with him 1000 years" and so I can only interpret that literally. To interpret that as "a day" makes no sense.

I do not claim to have it all figured out.

It was the thought of Jesus conducting the funeral services of mortals for 1,000 years after His Second Coming which made me reconsider my former belief in the Premill doctrine.

Later I discovered many of the claims made by Premill proponents cannot be found in the Bible.

It was at that point I began to look seriously at the other options.

Doctor Sam Storms changed his viewpoint during his time at Dallas Theological Seminary. He had been a Dispensational Premillennialist before that time.
His book "Kingdom Come" was very helpful to me.

Do not go by man's ideas! Look to the bible. Compare scripture to scripture, not man to man.

2.) the souls of the beheaded and those that do not worship the beast reign with Christ throughout this intradvent period, not only at the beginning.
John the Baptist was the only one beheaded. So John is alive on the earth to this day and cannot die again? What thrones did John stand at and judged? Since it was a physical bodily resurrection, he has not physically died, nor can ever die, but is currently alive on earth to this very day.

I ask before, for YOu to explain it. If you know I am mistaken, then you must know the truth - therefore tell us what new cloth on old cloth and new wine must go into new bottles has to do with fasting.
The symbolism of the new and old. John the Baptist's disciples fasted , but Jesus' did not. Why do you compare physical fasting to the Holy Spirit? In denying one's self, it allows the Holy Spirit to fill us instead of the fleshly desires, old wine. Does it matter if the old man is burst open? The Holy Spirit can not burst open. The Holy Spirit in us is the new "man".

No mortals, no Premill doctrine.
And no resurrection either. That happened at the Cross. You are just stuck with Death and sheol. And the lake of fire. Actually no one but God is left. New Jerusalem was never filled. People are still physically stuck in the ground. Only those resurrected at the Cross, John the Baptist and the Lamb showed up at the wedding. The best man and the groom.

And no resurrection either.

The time of the judgment of the dead, with reward for some, and destruction for others, is found in Revelation 11:15-18.
You cannot have a judgment of the dead without a bodily resurrection of the dead.

"Those who are left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem", whom God's prophet Zechariah, under inspiration of the Holy Spirit wrote "will go up from year to year to worship the LORD and keep the Feast of Tabernacles", are not resurrected saints. They are mortals.

So we cannot form a conclusion either way - or should I say, we can - but we would be wise not to mentally engrave it in stone.

Where in the text does it say they are mortals?

Have we not already established a link between Zechariah chapter 14, and Revelation 21, and Revelation 22?

How many mortals are left alive on the planet in Revelation 21, and 22?

How many mortals are left alive on the planet at the end of Matthew 25:31-46?
If we accept the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:31-46, then there can be no mortals alive on the planet for 1,000 years after the Second Coming of Christ.

Either Jesus was wrong in Matthew 25, or your interpretation of Zechariah 14 is wrong.
Is there something I am missing here?
