No but it has nothing to do with pleasing God.
This maybe?

Revelation 14:9-11 (NKJV)
9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name."

It is symbolism.--not literal. The Bible teaches we kill our own soul with our own sin, not through receiving tatoos. Ezekiel 18.

...and disbelieve, but essentially the same thing, right?

the mark of the beast is blasphemy.
I don't think recieving a tatoo is blasphemy, but I agree the mark of the beast spiritually, which is to be unloving, is blasphemy; and that will prevent your recieving the gift of eternal life.

well...i mean if it's a tattoo mandated by the government, that should definitely raise some red flags.
Interesting. Did you know that invisible, permanent tattoos now exist? Not to mention that they are actually implanting microchips in people to track and contain much info.

Glad to hear that. Actually, the Mark of the Beast will be one of the greatest blessing in all of history. Many religious folks will be saved from Hell.
No one will receive the gift of eternal life if they have not obeyed the command to love. First John. Matt 25:31 and following. The failure to love is the mark of the beast and no one will be blessed by a failure to love.

Refusing the mark and being beheaded is about dying to self and putting on the mind of Christ discussed by Paul.
Actually it's about being beheaded.

Revelation 20:4 (NKJV)
4 Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

I agree. People would be killed for their allegiance to God. It is what the beast has done in the past and what the beast will do again.
