It sure looks like such is the case now. Unless the President can pull a rabbit out of his hat and make his poll numbers rise to a respectable level, you will see a huge wave election in November and many Republicans will fall by the wayside.

This attitude is exactly why this country is doomed.Hard to see what people voting Democrat are voting for, other than dislike of Trump.
Both sides are dug in. There are no signs of change. This attitude is exactly why this country is doomed.
Despite me hating Trump with the passion of a thousand white hot suns, I can give you a list of Trump's good qualities and positives.
However, there is this human condition about being unable to see the other side of the argument. The GOP has brainwashed so many of their members into thinking that there is NOTHING of value to the Democrats viewpoints, arguments, and side. Even worse, the GOP preaches that the Dems are trying to "destroy" America while the GOP is trying to save it...
There are plenty of things that the Democrats are right about that GOP is wrong about.
There are plenty of things that the GOP is right about that the Dems are wrong about.
However, each side pretending that that other side has no merit is why nothing of importance gets done in this country and/or why so much energy, time, and resources is spent fighting.
Take the DACA stuff. Both sides are in clear agreement that we need to get the DACA kids a path to citizenship yet both sides can't reach an agreement...
Learn to see the other side of the argument or else enjoy the view as this country burns to the ground because it was destroyed from within...
No coherent reason can be given for not building the wall,
A major terrorist attack or a war might change the electoral landscape.
What I have failed to see Liberals and Dems do is to offer an alternative to these Trumpers. If I were a white middle class man in a Red State with my local economy in shambles, I would feel I'd have "no choice" but to support Trump because he is the ONLY politician addressing my plight.

Are Red state local economies generally in shambles?
A major terrorist attack or a war might change the electoral landscape.

Waste of money that's not going to be a cost-effective solution.
Especially since net illegal immigration from Mexico is right around zero currently.Darn it, you beat me to it.
These people travel on foot for hundreds if not thousands of miles. Through jungles and deserts and swamps, oftentimes dying along the way...
and we are to believe that they will come all that way, get to a wall and then what??? Stop? Go back? Throw their hands up and say, "Gee, I didn't think there would be a wall..."
Republicans are definitely in for a major loss, but whether that loss is simply significant or all-out devastating is another question.
I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be devastation. Trump's base has mostly seen tax cuts for the rich and more foreign war, and have not seen central promises such as the wall. Now with this talk of Trump supporting DACA, he is prepared to lose support into his hardcore base who would stick by him for every seemly outrageous comment, but they won't stick by him for amnesty.
Hungary added a wall. It was effective in keeping out most illegal immigrants during the European migrant crisis.Darn it, you beat me to it.

Hundreds of miles worth of tunnels exist between the US and Mexico. Building a wall is just not a cost effective solution.
I'd be way more supportive of an extensive drone patrol program coupled with more agents on the ground. But a wall? I mean, come on man, this is not 1432...
There is tons of value in building walls at high traffic areas "in conjunction" with agents who patrol. Absolutely, no argument there.
But to think that thousands of mile worth of wall along the US Mexico border is going to solve the problem is just flat out fantasy. It would only take a couple of hours to dig underneath a wall and less time to just destroy a section of the wall...
Have you never jumped a wall in your lifetime?
The estimated costs of the wall is 8 billion.
