That is as it should be. How would you feel if someone approached you, told you about their own religion, and said that before you could properly understand it you had to believe in it? And accused you of arguing in bad faith if you didn't?I'm not asking you to admit that God exists. But I think you should recognize that your presuppositions might unfairly affect your reading of Scripture. Since you assume before you ever interpret Scripture that God does not exist, how can you even see anything other than a man-made document?
Even if we assume, for the sake of argument, that the Bible is the word of God, you would not be able to recognize it as such because your presuppositions would not allow you to do so.
The basic position of most atheists is this: if the argument is convincing, we'll be convinced. Simple as that.
