This is NOT a church bashing thread, but a discussion of exousia (authority),
and what has been given to the Body of Christ.
Luke 9:
1 Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority
over all demons, and to cure diseases.
2 He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
Luke 10:
18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions,
and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you,
but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
2 Corinthians 1:12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience,
that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God,
we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly toward you.
Is the power and authority of the Church diminished in the manifestation of fleshly wisdom?
James 3:
14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.
15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.
16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.
