Is Stephen Hawking Really This Stupid?

Hawking has attempted something that is very very difficult. He is attempting to go BEYOND our natural abilities to perceive the un-perceivable.

To re-state:

Just b/c Hawking is attempting to explain several different types of infinities in terms of our limited minds and mathematical models... does not mean he's not on the right track.

It is neither blind, nor an act of faith, merely the best model of reality we can quantify, using mathematical skills. To attempt to explain it in common english is not possible.

We can't even SEE this description that Hawking is trying to "draw" for us. It doesn't exist within normal physical limitations.

That does not mean he is wrong.

He is merely, lending credence to what we already know.

To describe the unseeable is very difficult.

But, that does not mean he is pulling it "Out of his butt" any more than any other philosopher who slaps a label on infinity and calls it "God".

What do you know of my knowledge of his field? You are assuming, and judging me.
Your knowledge in the field is clear from your posts. It's not an assumption, it's a deduction. You've shown yourself apt to make physics mistakes that clearly place you as having, at most, a year's worth of college physics.

If you had more formal education than that, either it was a long time ago, or you should consider suing your professor.
I simply asked for a reason that this belief is followed, if it is by the atheists here, and all I have gotten was emotional responses, which is what I expected.
And, in fact, no one here followed that belief.

We took you to task for being insulting, and several other things. But at no point did anyone take Hawking's musings as the infallible truth, or anything close.

You do know what "hypothesis" means, right?

Your continued deception concerning that point is not fooling anyone.
Obviously you don't understand me, and are attacking me on that basis.

I think we understand you quite well. You wanted to make a point, and the fact that no one behaved the way you thought they would and wanted them to didn't stop you.

You just acted as if we had.

As I recall, in a post in another thread, you claimed that you were in a physics class.(I would look for it, but you've made 1400+ posts thus far.) Now if you were in an upper-level course, it wouldn't be called "physics". It would have a name like "electromagnetic fields", "thermodynamics", or "intro. to quantum mechanics". It is by that and other posts that you have made here that I can be reasonably certain that you do not have a good understanding of theoretical astrophysics. You have, in fact, used no equations or other mathematical language as of yet.

This isn't emotionally charged?:

Yes, all hail Hawking, he who can see beyond our human limits.

And what about this?:

-Emotional title to get your attention.

Obviously you don't understand me, and are attacking me on that basis.

Show me how I've attacked you, and I'll apologize.

I NEVER said I was in a physics class. I do not lie, so feel free to try and find a post where I said that.

I am a Computer Scientist that has long since graduated from a University.

I didn't, I asked a question...again.

If you are not in love with him, and feel insulted, I apologize sincerely for offending you.

If you are, then my comment is a statement of fact, not insult.

Several statements you have made throughout this thread give a different story. You started out trying to get us to "admit" that we had "blind faith" in him. You later called him our "God". In the post before mine you referred to him as our "idol". Do you see where any of that could be insulting?

As I've listed every post prior to your initial claim, I think you're going to have a problem.

If you don't have blind faith, then that comment doesn't apply to you, does it? Why is it an issue for you, personally?

Who does it apply to then, s0uljah? Perhaps now would be a good time to identify who you are speaking to?

Your words:
I asked if you all follow this idea? Considering the emotional response, I know that you do worship him, blindly, as you all pointed out.
(emphesis mine)

You owe everyone here and apology for your generalized claim here.

Why is it an issue for you, personally?

Does it matter? Is anyone here at blame for being insulted by your claims?

We're 10 pages deep now, and what do you think you've accomplished? Did your plan to make a fool out of us succeed or did it backfire?

Do you understand how acting on prejudice harms your credibility? Your making a fool out of yourself. I think it would be better for you to knock it off, apologize, and cut your losses. By keeping this up your only proving to us here how dishonest you are.

(And everyone knows a dishonest Christian is bad news.)

Two reasons: One, you accused me of having blind faith in him, despite the fact that no person reasonably familiar with the English language could have gotten that impression from my posts.

Two: I hate seeing dishonesty.

Retract it or support it.

Cop out Souljah...

The only thing that was bothering people was you accusing Hawkings of being stupid because YOU did not bother to even try and understand his work.

And then YOU insinuated falsly that others had blind faith in him because they didn't just offhandedly dismiss his findings.

It is not the theory that anyone is bothered by so much as YOUR attitude.
