Why would it be wrong? Body hair isn't a moral issue. Grow it out, shave it. Do what you want.

It's a problem when she feels compelled to do it to please society - or because society has convinced her she's 'ugly' with armpit hair. It's not a problem when it's entirely a personal creative choice and not a response to societal expectations.

I agree. My point was simply that it's a personal choice with no moral component--whether a woman shaves or doesn't shave her body hair is non-moral, it has nothing to do with sin one way or the other. The issue of society's expectations, I'd argue, is a separate issue--and on that aspect I also agree with you.

The sin isn't the shaving - the sin is in a society which demands it, and has convinced you that your natural form is bad and must be 'fixed'. A society that equates femininity to artifice, and not nature. Just as masculinity doesn't come from products, neither does femininity. You may not be aware, but many European women have armpit hair and they're some of the most stylish women on earth.

Meantime, it's definitely a sin for a man to shave his face. A sin against womankind! I am joking there of course, but as a woman who can't stand clean shaven male faces, I thought I'd have some fun :p

Yes, bearded men are most handsome. =)

It's just unhealthy to believe that your natural self is inadequate or 'ugly'. You're pandering to dysfunction on the part of others in doing so. If others cannot cope with the natural human form, that's THEIR problem, not yours. You don't need to accommodate them. In fact you're doing them a disservice by trying to, because you're enabling.

If I had married a man who was so unsure of his masculinity that female armpit hair rendered him impotent, I'd have insisted on growing mine as long as possible to help him grow out of such fears. Having said that, I would never have married a man who insisted I look like a child.

Do you shower, bathe, brush your teeth or use deodorant? You're pandering to dysfunction. Do you trim the hair on your head? You're enabling. Do you clothe yourself in "modern" clothing made from fibers? God created us naked and only gave Adam and Eve animal skins to cover themselves.

Are you starting to the the ridiculous nature of your position?

Growing up, I knew most protestant and evangelical churches in my region taught it was a sin to have facial hair.

And hair longer that about 1.5 inches anywhere on your head. So of course I grew mine out to shoulder length.

In the essentials unity, in the non-essentials liberty
LOL!!! The only "non-essentials" some of them saw was whether you had communion weekly, monthly or once a year. Every thing else was essential.

Indeed! Otherwise people may think you are one of those "hippy pinko kommuhnists."

The Jesus Movement in general, and Larry Norman in particular, drove those guys nuts! :)

If God had meant men to have beards, He would have had them grow hair on their face...
OK - enough from the Native American crowd!! LOL!!

I have often wondered about the Afgan Talliban who used to arrest men for not having enough of a beard; how they would handle a Native American?
