  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is Scripture MISSING Dogmas? (2)

Oh... maybe because the Word of God, in written form, doesn't always give us a clear understanding.
Neither do a mass of unrelated comments, folklore, and theological speculation, yet that's what you're saying is more reliable than the Bible. With the Bible, at least we all know what we're dealing with. With Tradition, it's whatever any particular denomination chooses to consider pertinent--and they all choose different comments, etc. from history and reach different conclusions.

In the case of infant baptism, Scripture can be appealed to for either a pro or con stance. It’s not particularly well supportive of the infant baptism position, however, and those who read Scripture to suggest an opposing position may do so without a great degree of difficulty, and in fact, will maintain that infant baptism is a Catholic dogma missing in Scripture. But both of the more ancient churches, east and west, just happen to agree that infant baptism has always been the practice, even though division for other reasons was beginning to occur between these churches from a very early point in time.
Well, we don't know that it was always or exclusively the method used, but Scripture does indeed indicate infant baptism, so that's why we do it.

In any case some of these very matters, as well as others, are often controversial between SS adherents.
Now let's take a look at your preferred alternative. With Tradition, some catholic churches believe in the Assumption of Mary, others (also claiming Tradition) do not.

Your own church claims Papal Supremacy and Papal Infallibility by "Tradition," but the Eastern Orthodox--who are at least as old and certainly as Tradition-oriented--denounce both of those as wrong. So where's the advantage for "Tradition?" Obviously, there isn't any.

I know-do you ever sleep? I have an excuse lately-I have a messed up shoulder that's been waking me up-and keeping me there -in the middle of the night. Get some rest for round 2-or whichever one we're on. :) Or not; I've got to get moving too. The wife's been giving me that glare.

Yes i sleep. I love to learn from the scriptures though. If it were not for learning i would not be here.

Consider this too. Jesus raised people from the dead, in real life. It was not hidden. Yet after He died and was raised, He now raises people from the dead is the spiritual world. We are all raised in the spiritual world. This seems to make sense becase Jesus is in the spiritual world now. Its all unseen. Our life is hidden in Christ. In the unseen world, in heaven.

Consider my words and look at this scripture.

2 Corinthians 5:16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Paul declares all things have passed away, all things are new. Look at revelation. Its unseen.

Revelation 21 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John,[a] saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Ultimately, however, for the Catholic Christian it is a matter of accepting all of the teachings of the Catholic Church with complete docility.

Sorry no. More than the Catholic Church use the whole Bible, it was a man that decided what books should be in the Bible on his own going against how things were done in the Bible

There are various canons of scripture used by various branches of Christianity. Your denomination determined its own canon at the Council of Trent. It is absurd for you to say that you use the whole Bible when there are other branches of Christianity with more books in their canon than you have in yours. They could just as easily say that they have the "whole Bible" and you don't.

Sure, all four Marian dogmas.

The perpetual virginity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is in holy scripture. The angel Gabriel calls Blessed Mary "full-of-grace" and she is a virgin and she says "How will this be, since I am a virgin?" All these things are written in the Gospel according to saint Luke chapter one.

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the mother of God is in holy scripture because Blessed Mary is the mother of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Lord Jesus Christ is God hence Blessed Mary is the mother of God. This too is in the Gospel according to saint Luke chapter one an in many other places.

What were the other two?

I am more than happy to accept what Christ's Church teaches because it is the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Assumption of the Virgin Mary bodily into heaven.

Mary's bodily assumption into heaven is biblical; first she is seen in Heaven in The Apocalypse of saint John the Theologian chapters eleven and twelve; thus the Blessed Virgin is in heaven and is identified as the mother of the Lord Jesus Christ in those chapters. Second the precedent of bodily assumption is set with Enoch and Elijah in the old testament. This short video clip may be of interest to you.

Mary is, according to saint John the Theologian, the ark of the new covenant having carried the true manna from heaven and the true tables of the new law and the true priestly rod that shall break the nations and rule them who is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. Thus the Blessed Virgin Mary is the ark of the new covenant in the heavens having been taken up into the heavenly Jerusalem (which is the presence of God most high and most holy). Here are the readings from the mass of the feast of the assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Mass during the Day

Reading 1 RV 11:19A; 12:1-6A, 10AB
God’s temple in heaven was opened,
and the ark of his covenant could be seen in the temple.

A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun,
with the moon under her feet,
and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
She was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth.
Then another sign appeared in the sky;
it was a huge red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns,
and on its heads were seven diadems.
Its tail swept away a third of the stars in the sky
and hurled them down to the earth.
Then the dragon stood before the woman about to give birth,
to devour her child when she gave birth.
She gave birth to a son, a male child,
destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod.
Her child was caught up to God and his throne.
The woman herself fled into the desert
where she had a place prepared by God.

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
“Now have salvation and power come,
and the Kingdom of our God
and the authority of his Anointed One.”
Responsorial Psalm PS 45:10, 11, 12, 16
R. (10bc) The queen stands at your right hand, arrayed in gold.
The queen takes her place at your right hand in gold of Ophir.
R. The queen stands at your right hand, arrayed in gold.
Hear, O daughter, and see; turn your ear,
forget your people and your father’s house.
R. The queen stands at your right hand, arrayed in gold.
So shall the king desire your beauty;
for he is your lord.
R. The queen stands at your right hand, arrayed in gold.
They are borne in with gladness and joy;
they enter the palace of the king.
R. The queen stands at your right hand, arrayed in gold.
Reading 2 1 COR 15:20-27
Brothers and sisters:
Christ has been raised from the dead,
the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
For since death came through man,
the resurrection of the dead came also through man.
For just as in Adam all die,
so too in Christ shall all be brought to life,
but each one in proper order:
Christ the firstfruits;
then, at his coming, those who belong to Christ;
then comes the end,
when he hands over the Kingdom to his God and Father,
when he has destroyed every sovereignty
and every authority and power.
For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
The last enemy to be destroyed is death,
for “he subjected everything under his feet.”
Gospel LK 1:39-56
Mary set out
and traveled to the hill country in haste
to a town of Judah,
where she entered the house of Zechariah
and greeted Elizabeth.
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting,
the infant leaped in her womb,
and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit,
cried out in a loud voice and said,
“Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
And how does this happen to me,
that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears,
the infant in my womb leaped for joy.
Blessed are you who believed
that what was spoken to you by the Lord
would be fulfilled.”

And Mary said:

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
and has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children forever.”

Mary remained with her about three months
and then returned to her home.
The impeccability of the Virgin Mary.

Never heard of that one. Perhaps "The immaculate conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary" is what you intended?

Impressive guesswork.

...but it isn't the bible making those guesses.

It is interpretation, without doubt, but it is what the one holy Catholic and apostolic church teaches and I believe it. Others may interpret matters differently according to different criteria and for the service of a different theology.

Actually its just what a certain denomination of the Universal Apostalic church teaches.
