When Adam ate of the tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil, he essentially declared that *he* would determine for himself what was good and what was evil. That's what the tree was all about.

Prior to his disobedience, Adam's knowledge of good and evil came from God. God determined it for him. Adam (and his offspring) didn't like that, so he decided to determine the course of his actions for himself.

The essence of sin is: Nobody tells me what is right or wrong. *I* determine that for myself! Nobody tells me what to do. . .

This is also what the relativist does. Is it not? Peal back a few layers of a relativist and you will discover defiance at his core. This is my assertion. Anyone agree?

When it comes to the Scriptures, it's not "all relative.
When folks twist the Scriptures it IS out of rebellion. (IMO)
To me, they're saying " God's a problem in my life, so
I want to be my own god"
What they don't realize is that God isn't trying to harsh
their buzz! Just the opposite.
He's trying to enHANCE them, their life, their family etc.
We have the blessing of Abraham on our lives, it's part
of the covenant we have with God.
Those words right there, "covenant with God" Wow!
That's amazing!
But men would rather cling to their drug of choice and
twist the Scriptures than to just LET GO!!! and let
God be God.
If He SAYS don't sleep with someone of the same sex
then DONT.. IF He is your Lord , then you'll submit.
If He SAYS love, then love
YES it's a challenge sometimes. But we have the power
of God IN us and can do all things through Christ who
strengthens us, so.. no excuses.

The only problem I have with your premise is that you should begin with Eve, not Adam. Eve was given the same command Adam was but it was through the sophistry of Satan that he tempted her to eat and become like God. Adam followed her in rebellion because his affection and loyalty towards her was more than his affection and loyalty to God.

The rest is spot on... the rebellion began in Heaven with Lucifer is the same spirit that manifests itself in mankind today... to become God and determine their own fate. Aleister Crowley summed it up perfectly with his 1 commandment of Satanism... do thou as thy wilt.

Nice to see that you only have one problem with my threads ;)

I mention Adam rather than Eve because the Bible treats it that way. Eve's sin did not bring down all of creation. Adam's did. She was deceived. He wasn't. 1 Timothy 2:14
