Its certainly a sin but is it blastphamy?

I say 'yes' especially after the sermon at church on sunday. The preacher was talking about Genesis and how God made 'man in his own image'. This would mean that he made black people, Asian people and white people all in his own image. Therefore to hate any race is to insult Gods creation and to insult God himself!!

I think making man in His own image pertained only to Adam, who had true knowledge, righteousness & holiness; after the fall Adam begot Seth in his own (Adam's ) image- e.g. sinner, lacking true k,h,r. (Gen5:3) And only after the flood & Babel came races & languages.
But still, racism isn't especially looked upon fondly by God, Miriam & Aaron used racism as an excuse to usurp Moses leadership & she was struck with temporary leprosy for all of the above, God spit in her face. (Num 12:1-16)

I'd say it would be closer to idolatry than blasphemy.

Reformedfan, nicely said. Very biblical response.

God bless

"Racism Has No Place In the Kingdom of God"

It is our responsibility to tear down the walls that separate us one from another. We begin by opening our hearts to the message of Christ. Then we open our arms wide and invite all to join us as we worship God together. We invite others who are just as blind and just as lame as we are. They can be of any race, any creed, any background. As we open our arms and our hearts we hear the Good News that Jesus came for us all. And all of God’s people say, "AMEN."

Proverbs 10:12
Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs

Racism I feel is a sin.

"They hated me without a cause."—John 15:25

Racism is: discrimination, prejudice; illiberality, unfairness

Idolatry (definition: 1 : the worship of a physical object as a god
2 : immoderate attachment or devotion to something )

Those who hold prejudice all are caught in quicksand that can suck them away from awareness of the life-giving presence of God.

Blasphemy (definition: impious or profane speaking of God)

I feel that racism is like stoning people. Racism is a form of hatred.

My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can’t know him if you don’t love. This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God.

My dear, dear friends, if God loved us like this, we certainly ought to love each other. No one has seen God, ever. But if we love one another, God dwells deeply within us, and his love becomes complete in us—perfect love!

The message, 1 John

Read Mathew 12:22-37

Blasphemy is something that comes from our mouth. It isn't racism. It isn't murder. It isn't adultery. It isn't taking the lords name in vain. If you read the above text you will see that it is a verbal sin.

In the above scripture text Jesus warns them of their ignorance. It is almost like he is saying be careful, be very careful. I know that you are trying to criticize me, but you are really criticizing the Holy Spirit's work. So I wonder if it is the same today. By saying that works of the holy spirit are done by the devil. I don't think it is something we can ignorantly do though. I think it is knowing that the Holy Spirit is doing those things and then calling it the devils work.

Read: Hebrews 10:26-29

Define "rascism."

Is it also a sin to consider one culture to be superior to another culture? Obviously not. The problem arises because in the USofA the majority of one self-identified race (all racial classifications in the USofA are self-identified) has adopted a defective culture which causes this "race" to be predisposed to failure in a modern economy.

To consider your culture superior to that of your neighbor is pride, nothing more. The previous post also fails to grasp the nature of race. Race is not self-identified, but rather it is socially constructed and projected onto people with an arbitrary similar trait (skin color).

The problems experienced by minority groups in the US today are not the result of a self-adopted culture, but the result of a poverty cycle that history (specifically our "superior culture") put in to place hundreds of years ago.

I never understand why so many self-proclaimed christians retain such racist ideologies that conflict with the heart of Jesus' teachings... but that's another discussion altogether.

>To consider your culture superior to that of your neighbor is pride, nothing more.

A culture which requires a widow to throw herself on her husband's funeral pyre is not inferior? A culture which disparages education is not inferior?

>The previous post also fails to grasp the nature of race.

Race is a human analog to breed.

>Race is not self-identified,

When the City of Seattle decided to make "race" based promotions many previously "white" people became some other color.

>but rather it is socially constructed and projected onto people with an arbitrary >similar trait (skin color)

Many people who claim to be a subject of prejudice (which is NOT the same thing as discrimination) can not be visually identified. It is more like "I am a (black, Indian person, homosexual, Mexican . . .) and now because I have told you I should recieve special treatment."

>The problems experienced by minority groups in the US today are not the result of a >self-adopted culture, but the result of a poverty cycle

Then why do children of black families making over $40k test an SD below the children of white families earning less than $10K?

pasted in previous post by error but how does an honest evaluation of culture conflict with Jesus' teachings?

No races in heaven as God never called Adam as asian or euroasian, etc. Though race does make a difference the way we look like, that's the image of God. Heaven is the home sweet home for all in Jesus the Christ. Not because the people there are beautiful, but the hearts are beautiful, the heart of Jesus the Christ.

The Spirit carries the same mindset of Jesus. Do we reflect in our actions and thoughts that are against the Spirit? No matter we speak it out or not. God can search our heart and tell the deep water within.

As we daily carry out the breath of life to live in the glory of God, and walk humbly with Him, we are alright with our 'identities' on earth, this place is not our eternal matter. But as we walk closely with God, we should have been self-examing our heart, how have we been treating ourselves and others. Do we call others other races and therefore inferior? Do we love them the way we love ourselves? The best way to thank God is to love one another, as we begin our life on earth, we begin our life in heaven.

And we walk in the light of God, we are in harmony with heavenly matter, trouble not we have sin against God.

God bless.
