I take it you're not familiar with James McGraw?Would it be in this pile?

Post 132

James McGraw- Never heard of him. Maybe associated with McGraw-Hill publishing company you mentioned in an earlier post, but I don't know, nor care.

Your link is to an error. Seems like a metaphor some how...

Me neither!

I like to tell people: eyes barn ignit, eyes die ignit!

(Meaning: I was born ignorant, and I will die ignorant!)

We're sort of getting off topic so I will tag you later in another thread,.. but yeah this is the way that I show friendship. :)

Did the link open? if not, I'll see if I can post the pic here.

No, that's why I said it was an error. Are you assuming i'll think you link was erroneous?

BTW. It is the "New American Bible". It was on the floor under some papers that fell on it. (Though I'm reasonably certain Pluto is not mentioned inside.)

Looks like you just do not understand, try reading this again.

When The Plain Sense of Scripture Makes Common Sense, Seek no Other Sense; Therefore, Take Every Word at its Primary, Ordinary, Usual, Literal Meaning Unless the Facts of the Immediate Context, Studied in the Light of Related Passages and Axiomatic and Fundamental Truths Indicate Clearly Otherwise.

Translation: Scripture is only literal when I, d taylor, say it is, and only I, d taylor, am qualified to determine that.

Sorry, not buying it.

Pluto may or may not be a planet (depending on the classification scheme), but it is *definitely* NOT a star.

Well if you go by the words in ancient Hebrew, Greek, or Aramaic that have been translated into English as 'star', they more accurately mean 'shiny dot in the sky', a category in which many different objects would fall under.

So the bible uses out-of-date terminology, cool. Should we change the name of this thread to "Is Jupiter still a star?" (recall that Pluto cannot be seen without technology developed ~1500 years after the last parts of the bible were written.)

I see no evidence that saturn, jupiter, venus, etc.. are noting but lights in the sky.

Paul list no planets in 1 Corinthians 15 and according to
The Antikythera Mechanism these were known at the time.
The planetary dials list the five planets that were known at the time: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.

So as Paul does not list them, i do not believe they are planets but stars.

Jupiter with one of its stars, they all look like light.

Maybe Paul should have used a telescope. It would help differentiate between stars and planets.

There's a new phrase to remember the planets too. :)

When I was a kid we had:
My very earnest mother just sits up near pop
Ours was "My very elegant mother just served us nine pickles."
Now they have:
My very excellent mother just serves us nachos

Maybe Clyde Tombaugh should have used a telescope. It would help differentiate between planets and ... oh, wait!
