  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is outrage?

Is outrage?

  • No, 'tis not outrage; anyone make the sign of the cross in the Orthodox way.

  • Yes; 'tis outrage! Only baptised Orthodox can make the sing of the cross this way.

  • Can be outrage; but I am not quite sure.

  • What IS outrage, anyway?

I think conservative Anglicans make the sign of the cross. I've even seen Lutherans make the sign before. I don't think they do it the Orthodox way, though. If they wanted to, I don't see why not (as long as they are not making a mockery of it.)

Apparently the Lutherans do it from right to left as well, instead of left to right.

As I understand it, the left to right movement symbolises moving from the state of the thief on the left, to the state of the thief on the right. As long as you understand the theology behind it, there is no one "right" way to make the sign of the cross. They are all good.

Oh no, you are right! To think I am studying to be an English Studies teacher among other specialties; and I put 'tis. I must have been tired!

Andreas, can you edit my poll please? Thanks for pointing out my bad use of Engrish ...

Did you deliberately misspell English to show us your misspelling?
