• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What exactly is it that I am supposed to do? I can't just say I have no doubt God exists I am going to change the end. I doubt because I can't prove. If I could prove I would have nobprobelm being optimistic who wouldn't be that means heaven is there and I wouldn't have doubt therefore no fear I was going to hell.
Not many Christians have absolute proof, 2 Corinthians 5:1-7 1 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight......................YOUR NO DIFFERENT, you need to walk by faith, you need to make a decision, and then stick with it. the flip flopping of your mind is whats giving you all the anxiety, I suggest you believe whole heartedly regardless of what you have proof of, and in doing so! you will see the proof of your faith, the more you believe, the greater your faith, the greater your faith the more evidence you will see..........I can only assure you If you believe, you will be saved, forgive others and you will be forgiven.

I am afraid of planes they terrify me. If I ever got on one it would because m daughter needed me too but my anxiety is so great there is no way I would not think about the plane going down. I am terrified we just end after death how am I just supposed to have faith it is there and not think about when I can't prove it's there. I can't rid myself of that anxiety without prove it exists. That is y I fear maybe I just wasn't chosen.

If you doubt that there is no Heaven, then argumentatively there would be no Hell. We know your problem your facing now, so lets re-group and find some "new" solutions that WILL help you get out of this rut. Do you read the Bible every morning/day without fail? If so, how far have you got? I know when I'm feeling like crap (and when I'm not) I HAVE to sit down, and give myself the adequate time I need with God to hear Him and what He has to say to me. Sometimes it's just me reading His word and keeping my big mouth shut and just listening, very closely. As Jeremy Camp said, when he lost his wife, due to cancer, he said, " why God, why!?" while sometimes throwing his bible across the room. And this is what Jeremy Camp said He heard from God. "I don't want you to know why, then you wouldn't be walking by faith"... That is where the song Walk by Faith originated from. Peter was no different when he saw Christ and already knew him in physical form, he shouted out for Christ to prove himself as He was walking on water! Peter was a disciple of Christ, AND YET still had a hard time believing what he saw with his very own eyes. You and him are no different, you know what I mean? You have to look beyond the physical, beyond what you maybe can't comprehend and let Christ and faith take over. Easier said then done though right. I have 100% confidence that if you do your part to find Christ and walk with him, He will NEVER fail you. That's His promise and God cannot lie to himself. Trust Him, not your own feelings. :) Big hugs

So I stifle my doubt and trust God that gets me no where in coming to terms with the what if heaven doesn't exist and I sit back and hope if I follow God and hexane heaven exists I will get in. I know several people two of which on this board have wanted faith for many many many years and not recieved it. What happens to them if tommorow times up for them.

If you speak with your mouth that Christ is your Lord, that he rose from the dead and came here to earth in human form, to die for our sins, then you are saved. It's actually quite simple. No one can snatch you from the hands of Christ, not that which is in Heaven, Hell or here on Earth. And whatever is in the hands of Christ, is also in the Father's hands. God knows you, made you and He realizes that you would go through this. Does a child always trust in his or her father or mother, when they can't see the better judgement that is brought to them from the ones that truly love them? Sometimes not. The child isn't mature or experienced enough even though the mother and father know what is best for them. Same goes with Christ. He will only give us what He knows we can handle. No more, no less. Faith is different with everyone. But if tomorrow were to be the end, you will be saved by confessing with your mouth Christ Jesus is your King. Maybe it's time we focus on what Christ has in store for us, that he is for us. We are His prized possession.

1 LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory
in the heavens.
2 Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
5 You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
7 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
8 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
9 LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I guess if I knew God was merciful I wouldnt be worried. It really isnt that simple.I do want to believe in God who wants to go to hell if it exists. That is like saying I believe a monster lives in my closet. I cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt that monster does or doesnt. ( I know that there is more evidence for God ) anyway that is where Gods grace comes in. How do I know I just wasnt chosen. I cant know that without a reasonable doubt either.

Why would He want you to go to Hell? Just asking..... btw, He doesn't choose who goes to hell. We do. That is called free-will. We were all born with a choice, to either love God or not. And you have that choice as well. Your no different than anyone else (not to be mean). God looks at each and every one of us as equals. He has no favorites, because He loves us all the same. You have a choice to love God/Christ, to believe. It's ok to doubt. But once you confess to Him, that you belong to Him, then you are His. Not even your own doubt can take you away from Him. Sorry, that is how He works. That is His promise, not mine. Now, how do we approach your problem with positive solutions? That's where we need to get (when your ready).... One more thing, you say if you knew that God was merciful you wouldn't be worried.... What makes you think He isn't? He has good plans for you, not plans to harm you. Your doubt is one thing, God's promise is another, and that trumps all our fears, doubts, anxiety, even though we think we can't control it.... You'll get there. I promise. :)

Raven, from what I have read in your posts, you are wrestling with God. You have believed for 15 years. A non believer would not be struggling like you are. Don't focus on "chosen" or not "chosen". They question is: are you turning to Christ? This holds true regardless if you are an Armenian or Calvinist.

A non believer does not turn to Christ.

Matthew 11:28
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

John 6:37
All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.
