There's a couple of issues at play here.
1. Yeah, there seems to be a discrepancy not letting you listen to Nirvana, but allowing Eminem.
2. Does that matter? Whether or not you like it, Mom's word is law even when it doesn't make sense.
3. You don't help your case by digging up "proof" on the internet that contradicts Mom. You can find "facts" to prove anything you want to on the internet--no one is going to fall for that and just makes you look disingenuous.

Welll I talked to my mom the other day and she fOund out bout me renting the book and she basically said Kurt was talented and gifted but the devil made him think he was nothing and stuff like that. And thn she went on about why do I like losers Or something so ya...

Some of Nirvanas song titles:

Moist Vagina
I Hate Myself And Want To Die
Suicide Samurai
Bambi Slaughter Bambi Kill

Which one is your favourite?

Did you ever think that maybe you mother was trying to protect you from a negative influence? The messages behind some of Nirvanas songs are awful. You've asked on a Christian forum so you're going to get a Christian answer - Nirvanas music is unholy, disobeying your mother is a sin, and your rebellious efforts to bring that music into your house opens you and your family up to satanic influence/attack (even by other means besides the music itself).

FWIW I liked Nirvana too. But if it's dishonourable to God, out it goes. Nirvana and Metallica CDs, all in the bin.
[Edit: Eminem too!]

Moist Vagina
Is a song about marijuana. If you think that's terrible, well, there's not much I can do.

I Hate Myself and I Want To Die
Is an ironic title he used because he was getting annoyed by everyone saying he was depressed and suicidal. Sadly, it turns out they were right, but listen to it, it's hardly a suicide song.

Suicide Samurai
Is completely meaningless. The words rhyme.

Bambi Slaughter Bambi Kill
You really think "Bambi Slaughter Bambi Kill" is a legitimately about a desire to kill small deer? :sorry:

Anti-rape messages? Songs about how horrible drug addiction and depression are? Covering Christian songs? Wanting grandma to take you home because you miss your mother? Songs about absolutely nothing?

Not really sure how to approach all that. I find teenage rebellion to be completely silly, but if my mother tried to get me to listen to nothing but Christian rock, I might be forced into it myself.

That's quite an insular, close-minded and boring way to live.

I can understand a good Christian mother protecting her kids from death metal or grindcore (everyone should be protected from those), but if you have to forcibly take away your 16-year-olds Nirvana CDs because of "Satanic influences," you really need to step out of the church for a bit.

I think your rebellious spirit loves Nirvana, and it will lead you to love alot of things you will have wished you never started, I wish I had listened and had been obedient to my parents, It was a long empty road filled with misery and pain.....but much like all young people they have to learn from their own mistakes.........u-tube my name
